Hello, recently, I have been having some problems when I turn on my computer, and it is that it does not start immediately, as it is supposed to do, instead, a sign of "no signal" appears on my monitor, I have to leave the cpu unit on for a while and then try again, so the sistem begins, the problem is that the little while that I have to leave the unit on before it starts, is increasing every day. I understand that the best is to take it to the technitian, but, I sincerely hate, and I mean HATE, other people messing with my own stuff, so,I wonder if any of you know of something I could do myself to fix this thing.

since the "no signal" appears on your monitor, it is probably a video card related problem. try checking the connection of the vga cable from the CPU to your monitor if it is fitted correctly. if problem still persists, then the monitor or the video card is the culprit. if you could avail of using another CPU, then try connecting your monitor to it, and if it works, then the video card in your CPU is the problem.

obe is right albto. 'no signal' message is displayed on the monitor when the signal is not coming from the cpu. Just check if the monitor is connected to the cpu properly. Before suspecting the video card make sure the monitor cable is ok by trying with another monitor if available. That way by some trial and error efforts you can learn small small hardware tricks yourself. Good luck.

Obe maybe right no signal. try unplugging the cable connecting your monitor and PC then put it back again. If it still doesn't work then go check for the memory.

No Signal means your monitor is not receiving any signal to display. :) Now.. issue can be.. either your video port, where you connect monitor is not working properly.. or your computer may delayed starting.. or you may have BIOS issue.. which is same.. halting system to start.. when your monitor shows display.. is it coming post BIOS boot screen or your system already started??

Hello, and thank you for the reply, I already change the RAM memory, and the problem has been partially solved, but I still have problems starting it, the sign of no signal appears still, but I can started more quicly, I just turn it off, and try again. And, it appears before the system already starts.

Probably the problem is the computers memory or it's ram. I have experienced that same problem too and what I did is to open the computer remove its memory then clean it using a dry clean cloth then put it back again. You should have a little knowledge computer hardware before you try my procedures. Once you have put the memory back you can turn on the computer if it doesn't work properly then you'll need a new memory. How old is your computer by the way?

Try to clean the RAM memory with rubber eraser and try to put it again. Also check the connection of the vga cable to your monitor going to the video card. There is two things that making the computer for booting up correctly the signal that coming from the video card and the signal that coming from the RAM memory. I hope this basic troubleshooting will help you to your problem. ;)
