For me, i just take a deep breath and pause awhile and then start talking appearing confident to the crowd as if i don't feel nervous. I never let the people know that I'm nervous because it can affect my evaluation. I always put in my mind that i can do it and all is well. Tell me how will you overcome your nervousness?

Well first of all not everyone is a natural born speaker. I myself is never ever close to that category. From time to time, I have to make speeches in my life and I don't hate to do so. I will not feel nervous when I was asked to do so, not until the very last minute when I am close to the stage and about to performed the speech. The worst part, is that I cannot control the shaking of my hands and legs as well as the shaking tune I produce. I was facing with all sorts of this problem, so one thing I always do before a speech is to prepare myself by bringing in small notes and practice a couple of time before a speech. I'm not a spontaneous speaker but with practice I can do quite well. As for the shaking, I cannot control them but I can hide them through moving constantly but slowly on the stage so people can't see me shaking. To avoid my trembling voice, I will start to talk faster than usual in the beginning of my speech which actually helps me calm down and able to talk like normal again after a short while. Hope that helps. :)
