Children using cellphones

All cell phone emits some amount of electromagnetic radiation.The available scientific evidences does no demonstrate any adverse health effect but that doesn't mean that potential for harm doesn't exist. Radiation can damage human tissue,if it is exposed to high level. There are few illness that have potential links to cell phone radiation;- Cancer Brain tumor Alzheimer's disease Parkinson's disease Fatigue Headaches. Few ways to reduce risk are; 1)limited use by kids. 2)use a hands free headset. 3)limit calls inside buildings. 4)use the phone in open space.

I am highly against this. I don't think that children should use cell phones. In fact, I don't think that children should used cell phones until the age of 16, and they had better prove responsibility for the cell phone that they are given or else have it taken away from them. I didn't get my first cell phone until I was 16, and that was only after September 11th happened and I could prove to my mother that I would be responsible with it. That took a lot of convincing.

I think that if there is definite proof that a cellphone has radiation eriating from it then we shouldn't be using them. And how does one effect us? Is there radiation? Don't people care enough about their own health to check it out. I don't use them and probably won't.

I actually think that text messaging is much more dangerous than making calls. The amount of radiation that goes into your head while you're making calls is actually extremely minimal. It's not much more than the amount that your body takes in on a daily basis naturally from the sun. It won't make a difference in whether or not you get cancer or anything. Text messaging is actually much more dangerous, because children tend to text when they're driving vehicles. And texting, unlike making phone calls, requires them to look down at the screen, so they're at risk of car accidents. Many of the car accidents of teenagers today have been caused by text messaging. Not one single person has been diagnosed with cancer because of making phone calls. Don't worry, making calls isn't bad. It's text messaging that's becoming dangerous. I would know...my friend was affected by it. Happy mylotting!

We do not provide cellphones for our nephews and nieces ages 5 to 15. There was a study made that teens who use cellphones the most were more likely to be anxious and depressed. It was found out as well that some teens wouldn't be able to live without a cellphones once they had it. I hate it when i am saying very important things to my 18 above nieces and nephews and they are texting and not paying attention to me. At times i even received messages coming from classmates of my grade 5 niece asking questions about school, well that's understandable but when i tell allow her to reply using my phone she will even tell me if she can make a call. Wow unbelievable kids nowadays. But consider this...i read an article that in Sweden there are people diagnosed with malignant brain tumor used cellphones for a longer period of time. That is really really scary. So you pogi253 should minimize your cellphones use i guess :) ...ooops you are no longer a child i forgot. Sorry :)

haha wow are yall seriouse! you think kids using cell phones are causing radiation to enter into your chids brain? i think there is absolutely no correlation between radiation and kids using cell phones it does not matter if the child is texting or calling someone and that goes for adults also cell phones are inamimate objects and do not have anything to do with radiation or health issues but i do think children should have restriction set on their cell phones and they should not let cell phones occupy most of their time

I understand your point and agree that children must be given a devise like hands free type because of which they can avoid the cell phone use at the ear which may expose the brain to the harmful radiations! !!! Apart from this there is a chance of getting electric shock as the battery used in the mobile phones can give a shock to tender bodies of the children, should also be considered before giving such phones to the children1 In India we had few accident because of the cell phones! A few cell phones got exploded while they were kept for charging and all these phones were from a standard company. so we will have to really careful about this aspect when we are giving cell phones to the children!!!! We need to take care that the mobile phones are not used for some unwanted purposes which children at teen age may tend to use! out of innocence the teen aged children are get lured and under the influence of hormones they can take a wrong step in life because of using these cell phones as these equipment provide them a top class privacy and freedom to talk! Any ways, I think we should consider the age and explain them in details about the misuse of the cell phones before giving one to them and should keep an eye on them! Thanks for the discussion! !!!

i think it`s dangerous.... it`s not good for giving cellphones for your kids... whats the useful cellphones for your kids?? it give many bad effect than good effect when you give them cellphones

O.K. I admire your opinion about cellphone. Today most people use cellphone. Even children use it to play games which will adversely effect their study . Similarly the use of computer. They use it to play rather than , to study. What may happen in future?

I have no problem if my children will use cellphones. But since mine are still kids, I really don't need them to use such as of the moment. But if time comes that they already need one, I would then provide them, along with their mobiles devices, something that will lessen the impact of cell phone radiation, such as using earphones to answer calls. I think bluetooth is also as dangerous, so I don't think that would be an option.
