What are the ways to beat addiction on nicotine?

My friend is really addicted to cigarette smoking and I can't really let him do that on his entire life. I am just concern on what are the best ways as much as possible natural ways to beat nicotine addiction?

My husband used nicotine patch and kicked the habit out. But i guess it is not the nicotine patch that did it but his strong determination to lick out the habit and the deadly things that it can do for him someday. If you wanna live longer,better stop the habit!

Weigh the health risk against instant gratification you get from nicotine. While some people are addicted to nicotine because the assumed the habit was cool, some people are addicted because the habit had been developed for stress management. If you are addicted to nicotine for stress management, then seek other ways to manage your stress; such as substituting sugarless gum or nuts and seeds when you crave.

He has to say to himself: STOP. Will power and determination is the key. He must control himself when the urge to smoke comes. I did it this way and I am happy I am nicotine-free now. But if cannot really stop at once, I would say shift to e-cig. These are available anywhere now, especially at the malls. It might help.

I think the most effective way of beating nicotine addiction is to taper the use of it each day. We all know that stopping it suddenly may cause serious problems to his body since he is already addicted to it. So why not gradually decrease his consumption per day until he no longer wants to use one. You can start by decreasing his use by two or three sticks a day. :)
