What is the best free graphic design tool to use? I was curious as I have been noticing a lot of low-end work for making of logos and such. I consider myself to be a very creative individual and I wouldn't mind seeing how good of a logo I could make. So I am curious, what is the best free graphic design tool that you would suggest? Feel free to mention any non-free ones, too. I mainly just wanted to try out some tools for now though and see what i could come up with.

I suggest what i know: www.gimp.org is the best advanced paint program, it's opensource and also easy to use. I have find on linksgage.com also www.inkscape.org, it's opensource and you can use to create vector graphic in .svg format, really powerfull of middle difficulty. If you want to use some program really professional and hard to use you can try www.blender.org the best open source 3d model suite. I hope this helps

I have had many issues with gimp. Not in terms of it being challenging.. but it seems to like crashing a lot, screwing up, etc. I shall check out the other ones though. They do sound potentially beneficial. Thanks!

GIMP is the only free one that works just like the high-end ones. I searched high and low before, only to find the GIMP. I wish that I knew about it earlier, but at least I do know about it now. One of the best parts of GIMP is that you can download additional fonts, patterns, brushes and plug-ins, which helps you extend what you can do with it.

I think you should start with GIMP since that one is the best free product and it`s almost as good as Photoshop.I`m using it when i need to modify a picture i haven`t tried to make money with it but if you are creative then maybe you can do it. Also i`ve made some nice animations using Photoscape .Maybe that one will help you too to make cheap logos
