Information on Google Adsense

So, I just submitted my application. It tells me in a week they will tell me if I am rejected or not. During this week, I decided to scour some info on Adsense,like; How much do they pay? Is it worth it? Why will they reject my application? Is there any good alternatives if I get rejected? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
