A week ago, I wanted test my ability to walk the long distances. Begining start from my home with the target until the bus terminal outside the city who travel a distance of 40 km. I am walk from morning till evening, but did not finish until the destination which has been my targeted, I'm just strong walking 30 km. During trip, I wear a turban on my head to away my head from the heat. This is not because I want to seem pious, but because turban most convenient to use on my head because turban is wide and thin also can close my shoulder up my palms. And incidentally, too, my beard is quite thick at the time. Interestingly, some people, there is also little children who shout at me as a terrorist. My assumption, because I have a beard and turban. So both of them are correct, if the marketing people said, has became the top mind for people's, the beard and the turban synonymous with terrorists. Apparently, everywhere these conditions always same. The beard and The turban always considered a terrorist identity. Even, In the movies that came out in last 5 years, especially the Hollywood output, let's call "Green Zone" and "Body of Lies", hordes of terrorists has always depicted have Islam religion, have long and thick beard, and always using turban on their head. Also depicted as figure who do not want to know other people who their non-Islamic. It was a wrong doctrinal! I am really irritated when watching these movies. Hy! I am moslem, I am Islam, I have beard and use a turban in my head, too (although, just use it when I went), but I am not a terrorist! Hopefully not because the view about terrorists this that makes us, as Islam people's, leaving the beard and the turban. Why we shy if have beard and use a turban in our head's ? We are Moslem ... we have to prove that we are the same people who want know and sharing with other people, who likes help people other without view their religion, We love peace .....

I too have experienced, which is almost the same experience as you. I suspected terrorists, because I wear Hijab. At that time, I visited my cousin, who became one of the bomb victims, in Solo. When I would go, into the room my cousin. I stopped by an officer. The officer told me, that is treated in the room, is a victim of a bomb in the Church. I said to the officer, that my cousin was one of the victims. But, the officer did not believe it. The officer said, is not possible, you have a cousin, whose religion is different. The clerk thought I was just looking for excuses. And even, the officer, clearly saying, I am a terrorist spy. I was very surprised. What do women wear the hijab, all terrorists, and must not have a family, of other faiths.

I think there is really nothing to be ashamed of being a Muslim, and expressing Muslim identity.People may associate Islam with terrorism but we know ourselves that it's not true.Islam is a religion of peace.I think that it's our responsibility as Muslims to maintain our identity, educate the people around us and show them that Islam is about peace not terrorism.
