Teens, drinking and drugs

I have come to the conclusion that things have gotten out of hand in this day and age. When I was a teenager and in school, it was very hard to get smokes and booze when you were under age. Now I am grown up with two children of my own and a sister who has just entered her first year of highschool. A couple of days ago we got to chatting and she started to tell me about all the things that go on in her school. She bascially told me that she can get smokes and booze (amd just about anything else) just by going to a certain area outside the school grounds. There is a spot where older kids go to hang out and literally wait for highschool kids to come and buy things from them. I was a little worried cause my sister is underage and I really didn't want her to be around that kind of thing. Unfortunately if she wants it she can get it. Now thankfully my parents have taught her better than that and she stays away from that area, but this got me thinking: Do you know the "danger zones" around your child's school? Do you think that law enforcement should take a more active role in preventing this kind of thing? Why or why not?

I was in high school in the 60's and 70's and if you wanted something, there were places to get it. They even hired private duty police for the school grounds. I think the police are trying to enforce and protect and they even take tips about underage drinking parties and stores that sell illegal substances. As citizens we need to be willing to report things that are not right.
