How many cores is enough!?!

A couple of months ago I purchased an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T 3.2 Ghz processor and I love it. It is the second best AMD processor available and can run anything I throw at it. Now I know that AMD might release their bulldozer line of 8 core processors before the end of the year. I wonder if it will be worth upgrading at all seeing as I already have 6 cores in my computer and I have not even overclocked it yet. I have it running battlefield 3 the BETA and it uses up almost 70% of the cpu's cores and almost half my ram (which is 8 gb). It is kind of crazy that they are making games that can come close to maxing out many of the best computers there are to offer. The story is even worse for my graphics processor (GPU). I cheaped out and bought an nvidia 460 model and batttlefield 3 wants you to run it with at least a 550 model or more. Gaming is going to be an expensive endevour! What do you guys have in your computers and how are you going to cope with the new games coming out in the near future!?!

Don't buy if you can play the BattleField 3 smooth. GPU is the important while playing hardcore games so keep your money and then in the near future you can upgrade it fast, but its your decision bro! goodluck! :)

For the maximum quality ingame, i think you should upgrade only your video card. Your configuration is still enough good, the next thing should be a new hdd, only if you want faster loading time.

Well, I didn't play game much but, mainly I use the computer as a tool for making music. I do electronics and lots of synth as well as instrument modulations take place, and these eats up the cpu. I just upgraded my dual core AMD to quad core model of the same brand. And it works great!
