"The needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few!" I was watching Transformers 3 last night and I heard this philosophy on one of the Decepticons. Do you agree to this belief that the good to many will be good to all even though you sacrifice the good of the few? Will this be possible to all aspects of life? To my point of view it is not always the right solution to sacrifice the few for the greater good of the many.

Didnt spock say something similar to that when he sacrificed himself to save the ship in the wrath of kahn.I would probably have to agree with the belief in most cases. However you have to be careful with it as it could be used to justify some horrible crimes and the persecution of minorities. Also it is easy to say that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few but it would be harder in practice to make the decisions that may lead to peoples deaths even if it may save many more.

Yes! Now I remember where I have heard this quote before. True man. We do not always sacrifice the few for the good of the many specially when lives are at stake. Thanks for your comment!

Although there must be a way to protect allminorities, it is clear that is the needs of some few people are opposed to the basic rights of the mayority, the mayority is more important. I think that´s the idea behind voting in a democracy, and the need to take care of the people with more needs (such as hungry people or people who don´t have the minimum necessities taken care of). It is important to keep in mind as to what is a basic need and what is luxury.
