what's the use of FB layouts?

I tried to have layout on my facebook, I really choose the best one. But when I opened my profile, the layout can only be seen on the bottom of my page. what's the use? It doesn't add beauty to my profile anyway. Well, how about you guys, do you have layout on your facebook too?
It might be better if the layout will be your background on your facebook profile so that it would be very beautiful to look on. Well, I don't really know as of now the purpose of layout. Probably you know what's the use of it. You can share it to me and to others? What do you think guys?

I've tried a background some time ago, I had to download app I didn't like what it was doing with my computer, it seemed to have slowed it down. it had beautiful backgrounds though, but I had to uninstall it; and it could not be seen by people who did not have the same app.
