Well, everone has heard about people gone missing cause of facebook(I think), But If you don't give any personal information, and just give personal information to your friends it's all okay. Then : Don't put people you don't know on your friend list. If you do that it could be unsafe. remember it's 1 on 100000 something will happen. But to make it even more safe you shouldn't give any information, ofc everyone could send a bad message to you, but don't care, don't reply. Hope I helped you. Regards oliver

The safety of Facebook really does depend on how you use it. The problem as it is with Facebook is people are a bit too quick to disclose the most private details that they are able to use. There are going to be a lot of people who are careless on Facebook. And when personal conflicts get rather into Facebook, things can get ugly. And perhaps that could be added to the lack of safety. So Facebook might not be all that safe, depending on the circumstances. I think that common sense can inf act go a long way with helping Facebook really being a bit more secure. Be careful who you trust, be careful what information is on there. Really just like anything else on the Internet in any number of ways. You got to tread rather lightly and carefully.

Facebook is safe! You just have to be carefull who you accept as friend! Importantly, in case in relationship between boy friend/girl friend or vis-versa, do not share your password as there several comments tell abuses are happening!

There are a lot of mature people who use Facebook judiciously and with caution. I don't think they will complain about Facebook being unsafe. I am myself on Facebook for quite some time and God forbid, nothing of anything unsafe has happened to me so far and I haven't heard of any such happening from any one I know of. Facebook doesn't allow masked identities and so mostly there are real people with known identities [some crooks may manage to circumvent it but their number may be small. Its like the undergraduate college for some youngsters. In college, a lot of them like fun and make good friends and lead a healthy community. There are unscrupulous elements in every college and their intentions are mean and foul. They indulge in all dirty acts and bring disrepute to the college. They also turn out to be social nuisance. It is the same thing with Facebook. The world is full of good & bad. There are risks in any and every walk of life. At the same time there are words of wisdom & friendly guidelines that help you to stay safe & protected. Here are a few tips to stay safe: 1. Don't just fall prey to juicy friendly overtures 2. Assess people by what they post & the quality of their contributions 3. Don't exhibit vulnerability by posting anything that gives an impression to any one that your are gullible 4. Begin with a few people of character as friends and expand the network through common acquaintances & references 5. Don't be enticed into private conversations with no reason with unknown elements These are in addition to advices from others to desist from posting personal information. If you look at the positive side of Facebook, there are thousands of intelligent and articulate people who have created Groups whose members engage in high quality discussions. So keep your guard and make the best of what is good about it. Cheers.

Yes and no to the safety of facebook. For adults it is safe because we know how to protect ourselves but for young kids not safe at all. They don't know all the dangers of the world around us that we try so hard to keep them from. I don't put up any personal information that I don't want unwanted people to know about me. If want others to know that stuff I'll post mark it to where only we can see it as me and that person. Especially that I'm a mom down and have my own to worry about.

Nothing is fail proof in keeping a person safe. Facebook is no exception. Many people have had their accounts hacked but it's because they are not familiar with the layers of security that is offered. It has greatly improved the options in the last few weeks and I have to say for a social network that is driving me nuts with user options it does keep me in touch with friends and family.
