I upgraded my Windows XP yesterday to Windows 7. Everything seems to going fine until I noticed that my audio speakers don't work after the upgrade. It says in the control panel that the device is unplugged even though it is not. My mic still works though. What should I do? I just bought these speakers a little over a month ago so it's impossible for it to be broken. Help. Thank you.

Try with another pairs of speakers. Or try the speakers with another device.

When I upgraded my PC from XP to Windows7, all I did was to install windows 7 to my drive C then automatically all my files were deleted. as easy as that.

Well, upgrade a computer give always problems. To fix the problem you can search on internet the last drivers for your device, maybe you can fix it. Anyway you can try your speaker in another computer and to be sure they are working fine.

Before you setup an OS, please backup all the drivers and move the important data into drive D or some else, just not C. Because setup OS will format the drive C. Maybe the speaker wasn't set up drivers. Just conect that computer to internet and update all drivers. If that computer have no network driver, you will not be able to contect to internet. You must find all info about your mainboard and network card to find driver in another computer and setup it. remember install an anti-virus program. good luck!

I'm not a geek but just want to help you out... Try checking if the problem is with the speaker by connecting it to another laptop or desktop. Otherwise, reboot your laptop and Maybe you should try check the device manager again, disable and then enable the driver... if everything is still not fine then I guess it's better to reinstall the driver again. You can check out the internet too, i normally find solutions to laptop problems on different forums. =)

shut down and restart the computer. before restarting the computer unplug the speaker and plug it properly and then turn on the computer and check if the speakers are working.
