I was just browsing around, looking for comments from people i know, hoping that I could share some input too. I stopped to read a comment because of the familiar avatar but found out that it was not my friend but a new lotter that coincidentally used the same (or almost the same) avatar. Has this ever happened to you too? If you find someone using the same avatar as you would you as them to change it?

Yes I have seen it happen several times during my membership here. I have to do a *double take* Actually it is why I do try to learn user names because some do use the same avatars and the last thing I want is to mistaken one member for the other. So far I have not seen anyone with any of mine and no I would not change mine and would politely as the member to change theirs as I have created all of mine and would not appreciate someone using it without having asked first. Not that mine are that special, simply that I did take the time to make my own and not sure I would be happy if someone used it without asking. I don't fear it though as sometimes it is bound to happen when someone likes what they see. Which is why I created mine as I really don't think it is something anyone would want.

Flattery will get me smiley all the time. Oh yes one of my past ones appears to be very similar to that one.

I'm flattered. Yes I have to date created three of them. They are nothing special and I base them on the Wendys Restaurant girl. I like that she is a red head and freckled faced girl. Yes it can be confusing you are right about that as I did see one recently but since I have accustomed myself to also view the ID name I was able to determine right away it was not the same. But you are also right as to what will the others feel and or think about it.

Unless it is some kind of violation I suppose you can not tell the person what to do but you could suggest or simply inform them that they have a duplicate avatar almost in conversation, oh by the way.... Most people will not want that and would change it just to be unique I would think.

True and I dont think anyone will argue just because of their avatars, except maybe for the reason that lk gave where the other guy was a copycat and tried to make trouble.

Hello ddaguno, I doubt any one would actually imitate mine since i made this personally. usually, we tend to do talk to people whom we know in the avatars. but be careful because people can pretend using some one else's avatar. i remember a few years back where some one was pretending to be hiccup and said a lot of curse words

well the user name was different and I dont think the new lotter is doing anything wrong. I was just wondering what if it was me who had the same avatar as her. I'm using my picture now so I dont think I wont have any duplicate any time soon

this has never happened to me and if ever someone will copy my avatar i will send a personal message and explain that he or she should change because i am the first one who has had the avatar. i think it is just coincidence but then we should try to be as unique as possible.

Hello ddaguno, I think it has never happened to me because im using a picture I take by my ownself and why would people want my picture as their avatar too, nothing special from the picture I use as my avatar. I have a question about your friend's avatar that looks alike the other member's avatar is it the picture of him/herself or is it image she/he takes from internet and use it as your friend's avatar. I think if the image is not a copyrighted image we can use it as our avatar and people might use same image as avatar, but it will be better if we use picture that we own it.

That doesn't happen to me as I am just new here in mylot. But if only mylot have this guidelines that we use our own pictures of myself then I will be glad to followed. Sometimes avatar can make me afraid of. But I can understand them also if they wouldn't as far as they are protecting their privacy and not because they are opt for something!

Yes, I've seen this a few times before. Needless to say it can be a bit confusing, even if the usernames are completely different. I think it's because most of us associate avatars with the users on here, or so it seems, which can make it hard to distinguish between the two quickly. I always make sure to use unique avatars on here. They are pictures either my husband or I have taken ourselves. So if I were to find someone else using them (especially the ones of myself), I'd have to ask that person to change it as I wouldn't want them using it as their avatar. After all, that's one of the reasons why I do this...to keep it different from everyone else. If others want to use a picture of a person that badly, they should try using a picture of themselves. That way it can help identify who they are and without any chance of someone else having the same avatar...unless they have a twin, triplet, quadruplet, etc, of course! LOL Happy mylotting!

once i commented in a response to my own discussion. and i said something like "hey babyjane, thanks." then she commented back and said, thank you too. but added, "btw, who's babyjane?" lol i thought it was you when i saw the comment with that avatar. oh yes, they use almost the same avatars.

Well if that's happen to me,then I will find another avatar because I have been known and recognized with the previous one and if not is using it too, then confusion will set in within my friends' circles so to avoid it, I rather change my own avatar for a new one.

Hello DD, Even though i have not encountered such situation but i can imagine what could happen. Oh yes because here we don't put our photographs so most of the people identify us by our profile pic and its obvious for me too to get confused if someone comes with the same avatar of my friend. Because our profile pic is our identification thats the reason i have always dropped the idea to change my profile pic as i know most of the people know me by this not by my name.

Oh God, that default avatar! It has fooled me so many times! Well, you just have to learn to be careful and not make a fool of yourself. :D
