Most people make plans to own a property, a house or an apartment of their own.In fact, it is the done thing for most families. It is taken for granted that once you get married and start a family, the next step is to have a house of your own.Investing in property and house is considered to be the best investment possible..People go through all sorts of sacrifices, struggles and difficulties to make this dream come true. I remember the effort we put in when we got our house built. In fact, we had bought an old house with garden which was badly maintained.Later, we got it renovated once and after a few years added another floor since we needed more room for the children.I still remember how the children helped out in their own little ways to make things easier, since we were living on the premises in two rooms and kitchen, with the work going on all over the house and garden... Personally, I too feel the same way, that investing in property is the best investment ever...Please add your own views and also personal experiences if any while buying a property or building a house..

Hello Kiran ji, everyone have dream of own house. Whether he is poor or rich. If some one invest in hose of land it is a safe and best investment. But one must be invest in property with care. I was always live in own house. For some period I had not own house. So I know problems which we face while we live in a rental house. Now with god blessing I have my own house. I bought it few years earlier. I am still doing investment in it. Today its cost is 6 to 7 times of in which I bought it.

Hi anil, thanks a lot for the response I too feel that it is wise to invest in land ,house or apartment right at the beginning since prices are always increasing.Sooner the better in every way. It is the same case with our house which has gone up by more tan 10 times since we bought it and renovated it a few years ago.Mangalore in fact is seeing a property boom these days with many outsiders investing here in land and apartments....enjoy your day

Yes anil, I agree that inspite of what is happening around the world, India has not seen any major decline in property prices. In fact it has been steadily going up in most major cities and more so in smaller cities ..

hi there kiran! it is indeed a good investment to put up your own house. well, there are a lot of families i knew who don't own a house. i pity their state because it feels tiring for them especially the kids to be transferring from one place to place. that is why once i am stable or once i profit from my businesses then i would make some apartments since there are a lot i know who needs a house. so i'll have it for rent also to have a passive income and later i would build my own home when i will have a family that would be the first thing i should have a house that i could call my own. but as of now, i am focusing on my businesses.

Hi shanemae,I too feel that it is good to invest in a house or property when you have the opportunity. However, there are many people who are not in favor of owning houses and get stuck in one place , they would rather move around and live in rented houses all their life.I have a relative who is well to do and can easily afford to buy a house, but so far has never bought one and has no plans to buy one either...thanks a lot for sharing your views and happy mylotting

There are times when one can easily get stifled by being in the same neighborhood and interacting with the same people, so in some ways what my relative says makes sense. They change home after every 4 -6 years and then have the excitement of exploring and getting to know the new neighborhood...

I am lucky that I own a house. It was bought by my dad. Here the house price is becoming much more crazy in these few years. Not everybody can easily afford it. And today the inflation is serous. And the stock market goes worse. So probably buying the house is the best investment. As the house price will just keep going higher and higher and it will never drop down. I love China

Hi youless, thanks a lot for your responseI agree that investing in property or house is the best investment ever.Since the tendency for property houses is to increase year after year, one should invest at the first opportunity available to get the maximum benefit...all the best and enjoy your day

Owning house and property offers much comfort socieability. If you invest it generates income. But as you advance in age and the children settle themselves far away if you are alone as a senior citizen of course you prefer a small aprtment for yourself and be comfortable rather than holding a property.

Hi srjac,I agree that as you grow older what you need is a small place that can be easily maintained. However, owning property and being able to sell it later and moving to a smaller place also gives you some financial stability. There was the case of the famous Indian actress Devika Rani who owned a beautiful and vast Coffee estate ( 800 odd acres)on the outskirts of Bangalore and also an immense house filled with every kind of luxury and artefacts. But when she and her husband grew older, unable to manage the estate and also having no children they preferred to leave it in the hands of the managers who took them for a royal ride, and stayed in a hotel.I guess we have to think of our future as well and plan accordingly when we make our investments...All the best

I guess that makes better sense when the family consists of just 2 or 3 people to live in a smaller place .It is very difficult to get help these days.We have a huge garden and as of now I have a trusted maid who does the required cleaning and maintenance, but, if she were to leave it would be really difficult to find a replacement since most workers dont want to sweep the garden and clean it or ask for an exorbitant amount...

Buying a house or property is a great investment if you follow a few basic rules. Make sure you can afford the monthly mortgage payments on it with ease and you have some money saved up on the side as well. Another thing would be to put down a large down payment towards the house to ensure the monthly mortgage is lower. I am in the process of saving up as I got married just a few years ago and we want to make sure we can afford the house we buy. Of course it would be a house with a garden that lacked love etc so we can save a little and arrange everything according to what we desire.

Hi TC,What you suggest is very practical.I too am of the same opinion as you are.The more you put down as your down payment the better since you pay lesser in the long run..I too feel that buying a small piece of garden with an old house has many possibilities besides being more economical...all the best and hppy mylotting

Well, when we build a house it was really a great effort and sacrifice. I had built a little house within the commercial area of our little city. It was burned down. Then because we were renting a room after the fire, I decided to make another house at the burned area. Actually it was only a very little space at the back of the house of my husband's grandmother. Within the area of about 14 square meters we built a 2-storey structure. My husband's uncle paid us for the house when we decided to build a house in my father's land. Now, we are residing in a 4 bedroom house. However, only 3 of us remain, my husband, our teen-aged daughter and me since my two older sons are miles away from us. As we advance in age our children will leave us.

Hi pahak,Life does have its ups and downs and no one can predict ones future. When I read your post I remembered an incident that happened in my town, when a farm house built with a thatched roof got burned down. The people were still paying back their mortgage and they really had to struggle for a number of years. They built a little hut within the farm and somehow managed...all the best and happy mylotting

I currently rent, but the house comes with my job so it works out well. My partner and i have found a place we both like, but now need to try and save the money for a deposit for it. I see buying a place as an investment for the future, my parents have bought the place next to them nearly 6 years ago. I'd love to win lotto and buy the place on the other side of them, and make that into an investment farm where my brother can work as the manager. Expanding the farm with the organic sheep they already have.

Hi kiran, I have a small apartment in my city. I made this property by expending all my earnings. Yet I'm happy. My family is small. My only daughter lives with her husband.I have not to pay any house rent. I have a roof on my head that is my satisfaction. Indeed it is a good investment.

Hi bhanu, that is good, one has to have security in life and owning an apartment or house gives a lot of mental security. There is also the satisfaction that the prices are moving upwards and eventually your children too benefit...all the best and enjoy your day

Investing on a house and lot is a good move. Even on just lots. Lots or land price never depreciate. It even gets higher in time.

Hi kiran. I'm not an investment expert or anything but my opinion is purely base on logical thinking I think property like a big land/lot is a nice investment cause it's value doesn't depreciate meaning it doesn't go down it is always going up. But when it comes to houses I'm nit so sure because house depreciates as it aged and always have to maintain it. Maybe an apartment in a city is good especially if it is near some commercial establishments like mall, office buildings, school or city complex.

Hi phillyguy, thanks a lot for your response, Land always has value so does house since it comes with land.A house value may not go up, but since one either lives in it or rents it out there is a constant source of income which balances out the depreciation...I feel that after the initial 5 or 6 years period the aprtment values do not go up much since the building becomes older ...all the best and enjoy your day
