Anyone of you watched this? Because of the success and popularity of the movie The Exorcist (1973), they made a few sequels but this movie was the prequel. This told the story of Father Merrin when he was in Africa and when he conducted his first exorcism. Father Merrin was the older priest in The Exorcist movie who exorcised the demon that possessed the girl's body. This was supposed to be a horror movie but for me, it was more like a personal drama. Father Merrin in this movie has lost his faith to God because of a tragic event which led to the killing of many innocent people. And it took the honest faith of another priest, Father Francis that made Merrin gained back his faith to God and he was able to exorcised the demon that possessed a boy's body. The look of the possessed boy wasn't even scary and there weren't any scary scenes or even scenes which can give goosebumps or make you scream. The only thing that creep me out was the statues of angels inside the church they dug under ground. So anyone of you watched this? What do you think?

I was very disappointed with that movie. I don't think there will ever be a prequel or sequel to the original Exorcist that will be able to hold a light to it. They released an uncut version of the Exorcist with some unseen scenes that I thought should have been in it from the beginning. They were pretty freaky for sure.

I've seen the uncut version, too! The special effects were amazing! It was really creepy, all those things that the demon did to the body of the girl. I wonder how the girl have survived those...

Thanks for the best response! It was a very creepy movie. I think it was supposed to be based on a true story too! That makes it even more creepy.

I have watched the movie. but did you know that there were two prequels that were released? The one that you watched was "Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist". Then there was another one called "Exorcist: The Beginning". Those two movies share the same actor who portrayed the younger Merrin but with some different supporting casts. In the "Dominion" version the one possessed was a boy. In the "Beginning" version, it was a woman who was possessed. The reason that there were two prequels is that the producers previewed "Dominion" and they concluded that that it was not "Scary" enough. So they hired a new director and new casts. the only one that remained was the guy portraying the younger Father Merrin. They had to rewrite most of the script and so the "Exorcist: The Beginning" came to being and released. The "Beginning" didn't do quite well in theaters so the director of "Dominion" was given the go signal by the producers to release his version of the prequel. So that is the story of the two prequel versions.

No because i didn't even get to watch the actual movie, The Exorcist of 1973. haha. I've always wanted to watch that movie but i didn't get the chance to do so. I rememver catching a glimpse of it when i was very young, but due to the level of horror, my mom dun allow me to continue watching. When it was available on cable tv, i din watch it becasue it was late at night back then and with all the screaming, it has to be loud, yet i dun want neighbours to think a murder is taking place in the house.. lol
