I need so many things

as you know we are having major electricity problems in the place we are living in and we want to move. We are waiting on a low rental. But it is government housing and it can take awhile before we get anything. Anyhow there are so many things we need. We don't have a living room set. And my son needed a new bed. His mattress is totally finished. Yesterday we put a down payment on a futon. It is a lot cheaper than a regular mattress and we have put it on lay a way. I hope to get it out fast because he will have nothing to sleep on and no sofa even if we get another house rather soon. I guess I will have to do lots of writing in the next couple of months

Have you tried your talking to the pastor at your church? Salvation Army stores. A lot of communities have something like a food shelf. Talk to someone there. They'll know some resources that you may not have even thought off. Good luck.

I would not take a bed from a a charity afraid of bedbugs, I just hope we will finish paying for it before we move.

Actually, I wasn't talking about the bed. You said you needed so many things. I've found when it comes to my kids, all pride flies out the window. You do what you need to do for them.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I was thinking what I was gonna do after hearing your story. You said that writing a lot is the last answer in fulfilling your family needs. There is always a solution better than nothing. I was just curious how many post you should write to get what you need. I am planning to visit my parents and they are four hours flight away. I knew that I could not afford to travel back but I have to see them, because it's been the last four year and haven't seen them. Moreover, I really missed my parents. I also guess I will have to write a lot within two months.

I am a professional writer, I work for lots of places. It all depends on what you are paid for writing, mylot is not a writing site it doesn't count.

Have you considered Freecycke? Hubby and I got a tv, office chair, futon, and table all from them, and our entire livingroom set in AZ. There are freecycle yahoo groups for every region in Canada and the USA. Do a search on a search engine for "freecycle" to go to the main site, and find one in your area.

I can relate on needing things. I could use a new mattress myself. Would be nice to get good nights sleep. The hub cap on our car fell off somewhere. Now our car looks weird, but with money being tight, it will have to be put on the back burner. Along with getting our laptop fixed. That will have to be fixed before tax time, since I do my own. I pray things get better for you and your son. Time for good things to happen to people that truly deserve it.

Hello Winter Rose. When I was 19 years old I moved to a village and the electricity had times of going off. I kept that little cottage for 14 years and it got a bit better. Broadband didn't come to that village until the year that I left it. In my local area there are some second hand shops selling old furniture. For example a second hair sofa could cost a low amount of money. A little more expensive bed could be purchased in a budget shop. Getting your son the futon is a cheap idea. I wonder if you could buy second hand furniture for your lounge. I hope that the government housing association will soon find you a more desirable place to live. Good luck.

I once had a full apartment furnished with free stuff. My dining room set was from my mom, my couch and book shelves from my ex's friend and from work, and my bed room stuff from a girlfriend who was getting new stuff. I slowly got my own stuff and gave these things to the thrift store.

everything I have was given to me by my mother and her friends. the futon will be the first new bed my son has had since he was a child and he is 35 years old now.

That sounds like us. Can't remember the last really new thing we have gotten. The thrift store here gives people things if they need it so we have gotten some things through them.

Have ya tried contacting American Red Cross? Society of St. Vincent De Paul? Churches? Fire Departments? I'm sure they offer assistance. How about Freecycle?

don;t want anything that could possibly have bedbugs, it would be the canadian red cross here but they dont do that. I just need to be able to pay for the futon before we move. If it is paid for by the time we move it won't be a problem

You know, I've read all of the other responses. Each person gave you ideas on where to go for help. You did nothing but come up with an excuse to NOT help yourself. *I don't want bed bugs* *I don't like freecycle" But you commented to a couple with, "Just hope I get it paid off in time." Sounds to me like you're asking for money, not help. I also noticed that there was not one single thank you from you to these people trying to help you.

excuse me but where did I say I wanted help. I said this was my decision this is what I am doing. You don't have to like my answers but this is what I am going to do. Excuse, this is offensive. Montreal is polluted with roaches and bedbugs and sorry if you would take the chance that is your business but I won't and I don't have to. Yes I need things just sharing my life with myloters, but I will get them in my own time in my own way.

you will find that many people don't even bother to answer the comments, answering comments on mylot is a form of thanks few people do it. I am one that does. You are new to mylot, many people make discussions on what is going on in their lives in the moment. I don't like to spell out things like please don't give me advise this is my decision or I don;t need help I have done that in the past and still people continue to give advise. So I find it useless. People read whatever they want to read into anything that is written and there is no way to please everyone. Thank your for responding in a positive manner.

Your topic line, at least to me, implied that you were in need. I don't know how others perceived it, but must have seen it the same way I did because I wasn't the only one that offered advice on your post. Oh, I wouldn't take the chance on bedbugs myself. And I stated in the above post that I wasn't referring to the bed. You said, I need so many things. I took that to mean that you were in dire straights and needed everything to furnish your home. No offense was intended. Guess I commented on my own past experiences with people that speak kind of like you. You said you were a writer, so I assumed by your writing that a reader would be able to see into what the content was really saying. Again, my mistake and I apologize. This however, does not have anything to do with your lack of gratitude to the people that read the same way I did and offered some useful advice. Personally, I wouldn't have mentioned anything negative, ie. I don't like Montreal Freecycle. I'd have just thanked them for being thoughtful enough to take the time to offer what assistance they could. To each his own, I guess. I wish you the best of luck in furnishing your home comfortably. Have a very nice day. :)
