Over-reliance on bokeh?

Let me preface everything by saying that I love bokeh. I love looking at how different lenses can render the same subject differently partly by the out-of-focus areas in a photo. It just seems to me, though, that a lot of people think that bokeh = beautiful, sometimes at the expense of other important aesthetic characteristics such as composition. So essentially, I'm of the belief that bokeh is good, as long as it's used creatively in conjunction with other good photographic characteristics. Do you also feel the same way?

I feel that composition is more important. A good composition creates feeling in photos. BoKeh is important but it is not as important as compared to composition. That is what I think.

I've seen a lot of stress placed on bokeh in camera/lens reviews to the extent that someone once recommended buying a Leica noctilux lens at around $7,000 for little other reason than the exaggerated bokeh when wide open. I never make use of it intentionally myself but I have certainly admired it in some shots, especially light filtering through out of focus background foliage. maybe what has turned me away from the technique are the myriad shots I've seen of Christmas tree lights and the like which remind me of the gaudy pop effects from the 70's along with the mandatory star and multi image filters.

i love bokeh mix with silhouette though i haven't done anything like that in my whole photography career. one time i came across with an amateur (i label the photograph bokeh) saying that the photograph is very blurry... he was telling me some sort of tips on how to take a sharp photograph under low light... but then again i just smile and nod my head. i didn't saying any thing more than for he might be humiliated, i just said that thank you for the tips and i hope that you will take bokeh photographs too...
