Friend I am agree with you because below the age of 12 years means child not understand anything. So parents should take the care and watch every time what is watching their child in the TV. I heard a news a boy put their small sister in the washing machined because he heard in the add if put the cloth in machined then they cleaned so he thought if he will put in the machine of his sister then she will fair. But she lost her life and mash the body when boy start the machine. Boy was 8 years old and girl was 2 years old and mother was gone only for 10 minutes in neighbors house.

Watching educational channels is always good for the kids. I prefer letting my younger cousins watch Disney Channel than Cartoon Network though as I have noticed that they don't usually screen the language they use with their recordings and I'm talking about the latter. However, watching cartoons in general is very okay for the child as long as it does not impede his or her study habits and little chores at home. But watching with them can also be a learning process with them and with the supervision, it can always make you feel assured that your child is getting the proper guidance with regards to it. I think suspense and horror movies are not that good for a young child. Too much watching of it can affect the psychological mind of the youngster and as survey shows, it causes a great effect on how the child deals with monsters and the likes and it makes them more frightened and scared than they usually are. Watching action movies that involves crimes, killings, bombings, and all other rude, brutal and obscene to the child can make the child suffer from emotional trauma that he or she could bring up while growing. So for me, parental guidance is always advised to children below 12 as it could provide them the necessary patronage they need. :) Happy MyLotting to you and God bless!

IMO, no. I screen what my nephew watch on TV. I make sure that he is watching child friendly shows, like spongebob, tom & jerry and other friendly cartoons. Sometimes educational cartoons.

I don;t agree with this. Giving your child an opportunity to enjoy watching TV is like giving them the freedom you once had. Depriving them of learning through watching TV is not a good idea at all. What make sense is that, you teach you children to be responsible in choosing the correct programs to watch by letting them understand the moral and immoral values they can get out of watching shows of different nature.
