Hey ya'll I'm getting married in 2013 and I am searching for some center pieces that won't break the bank but that will look really nice. We are using the colors Airforce blue, canary yellow and them my dress will be white and the tux's black. We want to do kind of a winter theme because it's going to be in March/April time frame when it's still kind of cold. I was thinking of getting branches spray painting them silver and hanging tea lights on the branches out of a vase. What do you think? Will that look classy? I don't want to do real flowers as they are too expensive. We only have $5,000 for our whole wedding!

Yay for you! Congratulations! Your centerpiece idea sounds like a good one but I would be concerned about a fire hazard. You can use all of the same elements without it being dangerous and at low cost. Here we have Dollar Stores ...everything is a dollar. You can go there and get some wide mouthed vases. You can also get what we call Worry Stones to put in the bottom of the vase. They come in all kinds of colors ... clear and crystally blue would go great for your winter theme. Put the tealights on top of the stones in the vases. Then use your sprigs by laying them on the table in front of the vase. Voila! Inexpensive, safe center pieces. Good luck!

Hey I think I forgot to say they would be the LED tea lights so they will be battery operated not actual candles. LOL I may put the stones in the bottom with the branches and the led tea lights. Thanks so much for that idea!

Thank you! I hope so too! It's not easy doing a wedding on a small budget but I'm hoping it will all come together the way i want it to!

May I recommend tissue paper pompoms? They're quite easy to make and you can find numerous tutorial videos on youtube. Pompoms hanging over a table can replace centerpieces altogether, or you can prop up the pompoms with your branches. If you have the time and the patience, I've seen some origami centerpieces that are really good. You can also find online tutorials of some pretty cool origami pieces.

Well even though this discussion is 10 months old you have not gotten married yet so maybe I can give you an idea. With my wedding I put picture frames on the table facing away from each other. In the frames were pictures of my husband and me when we were little. On each side of the frames we had candle holders with candles burning. Around the base of the candles were fake rose buds.
