HP Compaq shuts down, need some HELP.

Have a done something wrong??
I am working on my cousins HP Compaq , compressing its "C" and "D" ,when all of a sudden it shut down and restart. But restarting did not continue,instead it says i need to reboot , When i am pressing the CTRL+ALT+DELETE to reboot it did not reboot and remain to its status,Wherein it says i need to reboot.
Aside from re-formatting can you tell me what else can i do to fix these??
I am not a technician but in my years of compressing files,its only now that i have encountered such situation. :-(

My freinds from both of your suggetsion i got the point that anti-virus might have remove some window files just insert window cd and repair your window there would nothing happen to your files after repairing update your window files by net

I think you should turn off your computer, load it up, press F2 to get into system, load in safe mode, virus scan your pc, check all the start up items and then find those that are misfiring. This should help or solve, if it doesn't then you genuinely should take your computer to a store where they can test and find any problems. Good Luck :D

I am not a tech savvy my dear.
But you can always try to scan your laptop and if problem persists, have it reformat.
If, it won't work,have it checked by technician, it might be the memory or HD having problem then.

Disk clean is good but the compress files I do not use. It is a utility in my opinion is for fixing a problem where you have too small a hard drive/ full and requires you do something for a quick fix.
Anyway, I guess you tried killing the power unplug outlet or battery and try a fresh boot, if you can not get your system up reboot and press f8 f8 f8 ... and try to get to safe mode, last resort might be to boot from the cd - sometimes you can reload windows without it wiping off your data.

My freind if this situation occurs try to shut it by mains if this laptop try to remove the battery of it and after it start it....... your system will be recovered and don`t worry

You can try to have it chekeced by a local technician if it is not covered by warranty anymore
