No, I dont think poker players are athletes, to me, no matter how good they are, how bad they are, they are gamblers, not athletes.

From Dictionary.com: ath?lete -noun A person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill. Although you do need a lot of stamina to be a good Poker Player and being a Poker Player myself after reading that definition I would have to conclude that Poker Players are not athletes.
