Renting a Room

Do you also rent a room? If your answer is yes, I have an additional question. Do you share it with someone? I have been renting a room since 2006. I already transferred from one dorm to another for three times now. This is my worst. I had a roommate who never cleans our room. Since she is already old, I think 60 above, I never requested her to help me in cleaning our room. She's always bragging that she cleaned the floor, but I never saw any changes in our room except for the dirt from the wall fan which was transferred to my clothes. Now, I have another roommate in another room in the same boarding house. She is few years younger than I am but seems so old because she's always on her bed the whole day during weekends. She did general cleaning last year when I told her that it would be better if we will clean our room. She agreed and looked so excited and asked me if we can transfer our things to the living room so that we can fully clean the room. Actually, I have nothing to clean because I always clean my room everyday. She seemed not to notice it. This is indeed a very long story which is all about my sentiments why I have this kind of roommate. I will stop for a while to let anyone of you respond to this.

Wulania, it's good that you have a contract LOL I am also a very lazy girl :-) but I never leave any trash under my bed or on the floor. I see to it that all my trash are properly disposed (unlike her). Thank you for making me smile!

I used to rent a room when I first moved to the city when I got this job. It was a nice room in a five-storey building, right in the downtown core. No, I did not share the room with anybody. I don't like to do that, unless I have known the person for some time.

You are so lucky, greenline! It is so expensive to rent a room here in Manila. Most employees here are renting bed space. I experienced renting a nice room for four months. That was 2006. But because the rent was P4000.00 a month, I decided to look for a cheaper one. I need to share a room with someone so that I can also save some money from my salary.

I've had the experience of renting rooms while attending college. I suppose I was unlucky or maybe I was not able to select the ones I could tolerate. It was never to be full time so I tried not to think too much about it much. Only I do remember this one in particular that was not very acceptable to me and I moved out the same month but the reason was not to do with cleaning. Excessive smoking habits and the silliness of having conversations about how much toilet tissue was being used in comparison to what I was contributing drove me to the conclusion that the abode was taking away from my peace of mind and affecting my studies. The next place was worse but on yet another issue. I feel your pain.

I have some good news! She's planning to move out. She already transferred almost all her things to another boarding house near our place. Well, as usual, everything under her bed is dirty. She never bothered to sweep the floor. I am already fed up requesting her to clean her part. I will just wait until the end of the month. Hopefully, she'll not change her mind. Thank you, Bluedoll!

How old are you? You're room mate is already a senior citizen since she is already 60 or so. I think you should just let it go and do the chores your self if you may. Probably her body is already tired of doing normal household chores to help you out that's why she is pretending that she already did that when she never actually did. The last option that you have which I think is the best is to move to another place again.

I am already 38. I don't really care if she can't clean our room because she's already 60. I left her because she's using my things without my permission. The worst that she did was she drunk all my distilled water while I was on vacation! She's not only lazy but she's also a thief! My concern now is my new roommate. My previous and my new roommate are almost the same. The only difference is the new one is a few years younger than I am. Anyway, I really appreciate your post and your advice. Thank you very much, jtj_hello!

Deadlywario0, if ever I'll have interest with women, I'll never ever have any with my roommate! LOL What kind of woman is she? Ah, never mind! You're so lucky that you don't rent a room ;) I can't afford yet to buy my own house :-(
