We moved here in April and there was a pair of Cardinals that showed up a few days later. We gave them crumbs and crackers and they decided to stay. They made a nest in a bush out back. We continued to feed them and they got to the point they would take turns hollering outside the back door until one of us fed them. Some days if we weren't on time they would go to the front door and holler some more. After awhile when the babies hatched the parents would demand more food and take it to the nest. When the babies were big enough the parents brought them to the porch to feed and taught them to make noise till we fed them. We actually ended up with three pairs and seven babies to feed by the end of the season. The others would fly in every day for food.
