If Rett Butler was really made for Rosella why she understood it so late ??

I love this movie and the two main actors. What I don't like is that there's a few space dedicated to Rett and Rossella because she was captured from the other blond man who will marry Melany. So i'm wondering if Rett Butler was really made for Rossella why she understood it so late in the movie???? I would have preferred more love scenes between the two actors. What do you think about? Is there much space for love for you in the movie??
