Have you ever lost your wallet when out of your home land?

I have had a bad experience when I lost my wallet in a shopping mall during my stay in a foreign country. The worst part is my credit card and cash were also lost along with it. Not to mention the timezone difference between my hometown where I got my credit card and the country I had visited which makes it more difficult in finding the customer care number and reaching out to them, which I finally managed to. To my luck, I went back to the shopping mal the next day and found that it was in the safe custody of the 'Missing items' department, which the big mal had and all my cash cards and other thing were intact, but by then I had already blocked my credit card and found it difficult to get it re-activated. Has anyone had such bad experiences?

Sorry this is what I meant..please read the word 'now' as 'not'. Live is not really bad...we do still find some good people.

I wouldn`t call it a bad experience since you got everything back. You should be happy because you are one of the few people who will find their missing items intact.

Thanks for the response. Yes, it was not a totally bad experience but the one night when I had to go through after missing it (and eventually finding it the next day)..was a little miserable, particularly considering I was out of my home land.

I could predict how terrible situation it is. I had lost my wallet in my own country and I couldn't get it again. I think you are lucky even you blocked your credit card.

Yes! But it didn't happen when I was abroad (because I never go abroad) :D It happened when I lived in a different state, just about 4 or 5 months ago. I just lost my wallet containing money about USD 50 (it means A LOT in my country), my identity card, my credit card, and also my driving lisence. I've gone to the police, but they didn't help a lot, so that I had to make new ID, block my credit card, and also make a new driving lisence. Oh yes, I lost it when I was in the mosque (!) and then I went back home crying :'(

Sorry to hear this, but we all have experiences that we take as a learning. It makes us all a better person and be watchful of what we do.
