What does it mean to be a leader? In order to lead you must be able to accept responsibility of yourself and others?Do you find this to be true or not? What is your opinion on being a good leader or effective leader? Would you rather lead or follow?

Being a good leader is being able to get people to trust you enough to follow you.You have to make good decisions, admit to your mistakes and be truthful. I would rather be a leader because thats something I always have been.

I understand exactly where you are coming from and yes people do have to be able to trust you. You also have to be able to listen as well as make good choices when it comes to certain situations. Your spirit has to be humble, trustworthy, dependable, approachable, available, accountable and able to accept responsibility. A lot of people who claim to be a good leader or a leader doesnt really know what that mean. I know its nothing but a title, but its your actions that allow you to carry the title and most people make it about themselves when they do hold it. It does not mean that you mistreat people or be the boss over them but its actually being able to guide people in a satisfactory and happy way in which everyone will be pleased.I myself have always been a leader as well because I look at the need and what needs to be done in that area which a leader is needed.

you can't give what you don't have. In order to become a good leader you should have to be a good follower first. You need to start it within yourself in just simple little things. Sometimes, we can say that its really better to be a follower only but there are some instances that you can;t really say no if you are called to be a leader in a certain group.

A leader is a person who goes first & leads by example, so that others are motivated to follow him. source: http://www.vtaide.com/gleanings/leader.htm Yes in order to lead you must be able to accept your responsibility. You can't lead/influence other people if you're not doing your responsibility, your men/follower will follow your command & styles if they've seen you that you're a good & effective leader. In other words, they will idolize your personality & hardwork of being a leader. For me, a good leader means his doing his work well, he was able to meet his goals, his follower followed his commands/instructions, there's no big trouble in the plan. While an effective leader means you have developed a trusting relationship with your follower. They trust & follow you not only as a leader but also as a friend, they treat you as a co-worker who has the same level with them. The respect is still there, but in this case the relationship is just exceptional.
