I had a heart attack a little bit ago and was put on bed rest for the first week I was home and then light duty for another two weeks. With 4 kids still in the home and husband that has to work full time I thought "Yeah right bed rest is so not going to happen". I called every friend and family member I thought I could to ask for help and was even told by some they were coming to help only to get get no help or even told why they blew me off. The one set of family members I did not ask for help because of their age, health, and the fact they live over 4 hours away was my grandparents. You know they drove out the day I went into the hospital and then same since I didn't need help yet. Then drove back to drop off my 70 year old (don't ever tell her I told her age) Grandmother who has the beginning stages of dementia. She did everything from getting kids out the door to school to being sure my hubby had dinner waiting when he got home. She even found the floor in the one sons room I had forgot he had one. LOL These two people were the only one's that truly took care of me and has made a point to check on me on a regular basis since then. If anyone ever says that old people have no use to anyone I am here to tell you that sometimes they are they only ones worth a dang in this world and deserve our respect. I love you Grandma and Grandpa and always will!

I have family members like yours (at my age, it's just cousins) so I know how that feels. I'm so very glad that your grandparents are the wonderful, loving people they are and that you got the help you needed. They sound like awesome people to know and are the personification of "family". Your grandmother sounds amazing! P.S. I'll never tell that you told us her age. Promise!
