How is Las Vegas as a Gateway for a vacation?

Heard about Las Vegas as a very good gateway for your vacations. Planning for a trip there. Can anybody guide me regarding the tourist attractions there?

Not a top spot for my taste, don't know about you? With all these casino and gambling houses, there is nothing great about the city unless you like to spend whole day playing slot machine, black jack, wheel of fortune etc... some people like the all night 'party' atmosphere where you can gamble your hours/money away.
