I love taking photos and it is hard to get people to get into photos at times so when I got my new camera I took a little doll a friend of mine sent me and started taking photos with the doll in it where ever I went, I have heard of people taking a stuffed toy or something all over the world taking photos of it in all the tourist spot of the world, has anyone else done anything like this, In this photo is my little doll Penelope so I have called this photo Penelope's Travels.

Yes! My wife started this years ago as part of a "thing" that was going around at her work place at the time. Three little yellow ducks in descending order of size suddenly found their way into every single photograph she took! We didn't go all over the world, but visited a great many popular as well as out-of-the-way tourist destinations within Australia from the Gold & Sunshine Coasts to Byron Bay & down here too. I think it sort of gave her a good excuse to share our photos with her friends at the office, but if it didn't have the ducks there, it wasn't worth their while looking at those photos. I remember trying to arrange the light plastic ducks in the photos & secure them - sometimes filling them with sand so they wouldn't blow away - oh the things we do!

I bet you got some looks, I must admit I used to get a little embarrassed putting little Penelope up on things in the tourist spots, I think people must have thought I was a bit loopy...

Maybe I did get some, but I didn't mind. My wife was more self-conscious & would not have done it at all if I wasn't there each & every time. That's part of the protective power of relationships, I guess. Maybe people are getting used to the idea with so many of us doing it these days?

I haven't personally done anything like that but I do have a story to tell. A friend of mine, Marlene, is 70 years old this christmas and her granddaughter came up with a school project that is very interesting. She sent her grandma, Marlene, a letter with a cut out doll of a boy called Flat Charlie. Marlene was to take Flat Charlie with her on all her travels for the month of November. So what that means is every where Marlene goes, whether it be the store or out for dinner, where ever, she is to take Flat Charlie with her and take a picture of something that shows where she is, with Flat Charlie the main character of the picture. Turns out that Marlene was going out a lot this month and she has taken a lot of pictures. She even went to BC to visit a friend, wasn't expected before she got Flat Charlie so she got lots of pictures with him in the mountains as she drove and it took her two days so she had a lot of stop overs. Then she is to send these pictures to her granddaughter and her granddaughter and the rest of her classmates are putting them up all over their room at school, for part of their christmas celebration. The whole class was doing it but it was Marlene's granddaughters idea. She is only 10 years old so I think this was very creative of her. Cheers and Happy mylotting my friend , Chris

They have to write a little story on the back of each one so everyone knows where it was taken and what was being done at the time it was taken. Should make some interesting stories.

That is such a neat idea! I am going to pick something I can carry around to do that with. I got interested in picture taking when I started this job that required pictures to document the reports I was making. Of course I will not be able to add my little friend to those but I also take a lot of pictures for myself now. The scenery around here is just gorgeous. I take a lot of pictures in the fall of the changing colors and the winter of the ice that forms on the cliffs and waterfalls. A lot of the pictures I take are from a moving vehicle though. I don't know how I will get my little friend in those.

Pick something small enough that it is not a nuisance to carry with you but bright enough to be seen and mybe something that means a lot to you as Penelope is as a special friend gave her to me....I will look forward to seeing some photos.

I love taking pictures as well, I use to take pictures of people at a portrait studio and loved it. I can't say that I ever put something in the pictures I have taken for myself. But, I did put all kinds of things in pictures with people. Sound like Penelope is having quite the travels.
