How Can I found my DVD writer are support blank 8.5GB DVD or not???

friends I purchase new laptop and I want to write 8.5 GB DVD but I don't know my DVD writer are supported or not 8.5GB DVD. Can any one tell how can I found out it's supported or not. my English little weak I hope you guys are understand what I want to say.

try to look inside brochure about the features in your dvd or the manual... if it say that it has dual layer then it can burn 8.5 gb dvd but if not well i'm sorry... well if it supports blu rey then it can burn too...
