Today I received a notification. So many points are given. Out of them the following one struck me as very important: "This is an important document which you must consider carefully when choosing whether to use the PayPal Services. Please note the following risks of using the PayPal Services: Payments received in your Account may be reversed at a later time, for example, if a payment is subject to a Chargeback, Reversal, Claim or is otherwise invalidated. This means that a payment may be reversed from your Account after you have provided the sender the goods or services that were purchased. If you are an eBay Seller, you can lower the risk of a payment being reversed from your Account by following the criteria set out in the Protection for eBay Sellers section and by following the other guidance provided in the "Security Center page" accessible via every page of the PayPal website. We may close, suspend, or limit your access to your Account or the PayPal Services, and/or limit access to your funds if you violate this Agreement, the PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, or any other agreement you enter into with PayPal." Of course for payments received for services to mylot--it is not a problem --I think problem will be there for people using paypal for ebay receipts. Have you noticed any other important point? Please tell us here.

Thanks for sharing this. On my part, I guess there is nothing to worry as I'm not a seller. Maybe there are complaints about goods that were not sent. Thus having a new policy.

Yes. this policy change may affect the sellers in ebay and other similar forums. This may not have any effect for us in mylot.

I don't think this is so new. If you were a buyer and paid an eBay or any seller for a product and received inferior merchandise or nothing at all, would you want to lose your money? No, PP gives you the option of reversing the payment, similar to 'stop payment' on checks offered by banks. Conversely, if you were the seller, would you want to ship the merchandise and have the buyer just arbitrarily take the money back. Therefore, PP also offers Protection for eBay Sellers. It really is important to read the TOS, so you fully understand. No need for everyone to get up at arms about myLot: it's not the same thing.

All the money in Paypal are hard earned money from online working, i hope everything will be ok with my account. i only receive money with paypal from mylot, donkeymail,triond. is there anyone can tell me is it ok, i mean there is no problem with my account. And since there are too many troubles in draw the money from paypal out, i have decided to use the money in paypal to buy something in a website which sells flowers and cakes. i think there is no problem, right?

No problem. I suggest you transfer the money to bank account though it involves charges and keep funds in another bank account other than the one linked to paypal.

I don't think this will affect me, since I never sell anything on eBay. I have only had one problem with PayPal. I purchased something from one website (Alice.com) and was charged a fee for using PayPal. I called and they said it was up to the merchant if they wanted to charge a fee or not. I don't remember being advised of this up front, or I would have paid another way. So now, if I use PayPal to buy something I make sure to leave a little in my account in case I am charged again.

This is another angle. Here in India we are not allowed to use paypal account receipts for purchases. I am not using paypal for making payments. I only receive and get them transferred to my bank account. good day.

Yeah there always chance to do that but with strong reason. I never commercialize my paypal account if I had big sum of money I will take it as soon as possible to my bank account. If its small sum I usually just use it to buy something on the internet. So there never parked any money so I don't have any worry about it. I think with paypal we don't have many option because we already agree with their term of service when we making account with them. We had to admit they are to strict sometimes but they are for security reason.

That is correct. we should transfer money then and there from paypal to our bank account.

I do not use the internet for purchasing anything. So this new notification of paypal will not affect me. Though I have not seen this notification anywhere. May be it is only for those using paypal for ebay sales.

Madam: I can follow. for people like us who receive payment from online sites for the work done only I think there should not be any repercusions on account of these rules.

wow thats cool. its good to know that if i started selling on ebay i can be more secure. well theres always a risk with using online payment services. all most every thing that you mentioned are good and key points. there are always going to be problems when you find easy ways to pay people. one thing that i thing that they should add is some way to comfirm payments. so that you know that the money was sent and recived too. well i just want to thank you for this information that you have provided.

yes. when we deal with ebay and paypal we should be convinced that there may be a possibility for money to recovered. So while deciding on buyer we should be careful.

Hi ravisivan, I too received the notification with a link to their new policies.There is nothing much we can do since we have no choice.Alertpay is quite incompetent and the only option I can think which would help us would be direct bank transfer. However, I am sure that paypal will look after the interests of its customers , if not they will have to close shop.It is a question of mutual inter dependence - all the best and happy mylotting

You have both alertpay and paypal. I am not aware of alertpay at all because I do not require one. Yes. paypal also takes some charges --probably more than what they were charging earlier.

I did check the Notification area of Paypal site for New Policy as advised by the e-mail communication no sooner it was received. I was immediately convinced that for people like me receiving payment for activities on forums & sites like myLot etc, there is absolutely no reason to worry at all. Most respondents here say that myLot may be trying to shoo away users form India, as these members say, Paypal doesn't earn much from accounts like ours. But if you consider that Paypal deducts $ 0.50 from a payment of $ 5 [it could be per transaction regardless of the quantum, I'm not clear yet], then where is the question of them not earning from us? Unlike banks in India, Paypal perhaps is not subject to any socio-economic obligations imposed by central bank like RBI and they operate purely on commercial lines. So no big deal friends. They recover costs from us too. It is just that they also have commercial law solicitors or advisers to listen to!

Yes. they recover costs from all the members including people from India. But I am not sure whether the rates have been hiked in the recent past say a year or so. Of course for people like us who are dealing with forums like mylot it may not affect us. good day.

Yhis is some interesting information, and I hope if they are doing things like this, they have good reason when doing this, as there are a lot of SCAM artists who will want their money back just because. But the only thing I use paypal for anymore is myLot and so that is not an issue for me. But I am sure there are many here who this might mean something for, and maybe even the reason for some of the complaints on here as well.

I noticed only one thing...papa's account has been limited from past few months and he is hopping mad at paypal. lol. But honestly, they have their reasons. With so many terrorists foot loose, they have every right to take precautions so that no money is being laundered using them as the route and no terrorist is able to send monies across.
@ravisivan (14079)

You are convinced of the reasoning - then there is no problem. Yes money laundering is to be checked. The conditions I mentioned may not affect most of us.

Hi ravisivan: Oh yes, I know that but I don't think too much about this fact because I am not an ebay seller so I don't have that risk about people complaining about my service. However I receive money from the Internet on some programs including mylot so I know I have to fulfill the TOS of the programs to be completely sure this event won't happen with my account. ALVARO

Wow really thats new and ive been using paypal for years. But I never send goods or purchances or anything I just make online money and requested checks thats all I ever did with paypal so i dont think I would have to worry about that. But if your dealing with a third party I could see that happening if something went wrong with the transaction.

This is not really new. I have had a PayPal account for many years, and this is the standard TOS. It IS important to read the terms of service before entering into any agreement with a financial institution (although I know many of us - myself included - often do not or just cursorily glance through them).
@ravisivan (14079)

29 Nov 11
Yes. We have to read the terms and conditions fully at the time of opening. I would have taken during my life 20+ life and general insurance policies and I have not read anyone fully because they are printed in too small words and in a language we cannot follow-legal language. The point I mentioned was highlighted and hence I thought I should bring to the notice of mylot members.

Wow thanks so much for this info. I have to admit I had not idea at all that anything like this was taking place. I mean we think ok we work the companies transfer the money into our Paypal account and we can spend it to do whatever it is we need to do with it. Thats why we work wheather it's on line or not. This gets me a little fired up. I personally don't use ebay to sell anything but I'm feeling some type of way for those who do. Granted we should be readiing all the fine print before we agree to the terms and agreements however the sneaky behavior by the companies needs to cease. Allright I'll play devil's advocate for a minute. I own a company that does these types of under the table things. This is how I make a living, it's not my fault these eager idiots don't read the fine print. Well ok maybe idiots a bit strong but hey if their pulling those kinds of small print type things then why should we not think that of us? I apreciate that you made a point to bring this to our attention and I will keep my eyes open for these types of things in the future.
