How would you spend your bonus this Christmas?

November 30, 2011 1:57am CST
I am a Filipino and by culture, we practice giving gifts during Christmas to our loved ones. For some, we hit the department as early as now to choose gifts and avoid the rush on just picking whatever you see in the shelf. This season, I tend to be extravagant on buying as I have extra and use my bonus to enjoy this luxury on shopping even if it's not for me. I sometimes go overboard because I failed to budget and shortly realized that I am close to broke before Christmas ends. I'd like this year to be different. I want to set aside at least 10% of my bonus to my savings and allocate budget for gifts and resist the temptation of maddening sale in the mall (cross finger) How about you?

We haven't receive any bonus for the passed few years, company executive claimed that the business is not making very high profit and every middle level employee down don't get any bonus for the current year. Only the executives and managers receive bonuses when the company can't acheive high margin profit goal set by the board of director, so most of us don't get to spend any of our bonus this Christmas except the manager and executive.

For me, only the manager level up employee get annual bonus as long as the company make profit. But for the rest of the employees, we don't get a penny unless the company can meet its targeted super high profit at the end of the year, then we only receive an extra half or one month bonus at the end of the year, which amount to couple of hundred the most if you are making only min. wages or slightly above min. wages. Probably can buy me a paif of new shoes or a new winter jacket.
