Hello everyone. Recently, I feel I have gotten an odd disease and the syptom is that every time I yawn, I can't close my mouth smoothly. I feek my bones in my face are stuck and only with great strength, can I close my mouth, but aching. It troubles me very much. You know, I must control the amount I open my mouth. If excessively big, my mouth will be hard to close again. My face haven't been striked before, so what's the cause? I am confused now. Who can give me a hand? Thanks.

I can only tell based on experience of people known to me. However it is advisable to consult your doctor and go by his advice. It may be due to problem in joints in mouth. please check up whether this link answers some of your doubts or questions: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=43129 http://www.emedicinehealth.com/temporomandibular_joint_tmj_syndrome/article_em.htm

I also have a friend with that kind of malfunctioning of the jaw. She termed it as locked jaw. It is caused by some inflammation of the muscles used in chewing the food or some instability of the mandibular bone, the bone of the jaw. This can be relived by applying a warm compress. In cases that you have this bouts, just apply a warm compress. It would ease the pain but just try to avoid opening your mouth wide. If this happens often you better go to an a musculo-skleletal specialist doctor so that your condition will not worsen. For further information try to surf this in this link.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trismus

a relative of mind also had this problem--possibly because he was chewing betel nut too much in earlier days. It is advisable to consult a doctor early and get prescription for medicines to be taken regularly. good day.

You probably need to see an oral specialist. Take a look at this link and see if any of it fits you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporomandibular_joint_disorder

Sounds like lockjaw, or Tetanus. If it gets worse, you'll need to see a doctor. The cure is simple, but the longer you wait, the longer it will take to cure. (and hurt more).

Why have not you consulted with any doctor so far? It may be a case of lockjaw, I guess but not sure.
