Me and my families had called to participated in this program at October. When we get to the destination, that place is very crowded and we decided to wait until it is not too crowded anymore. We actually going again near the end of November and it is not crowded anymore. There we must taking photo, taking our finger prints, and also scanning our eyes. For the free process, i guess it is very good and i hope the other programs from government could be as good as this.

So it is the same with me then. But they didn't mention how long the making process will be and i guess it wouldn't be finished in the near time since there are very many e-KTP that need to finished. But for me that's okay because i still have my own KTP right now.

Government employees have already got employee e-card but the function is the same as the old one. I don't know why the government has wasted a lot of money to have this employee e-card made.
As in e-KTP, I am not sure if this new one will function as we have been told. One of the purposes of e-KTP is that there will be no double cards for one person. Up to now the e-ktp is not yet ready.

I do not know what the government is thinking right now, because some of people do not have or have a lot of Id Card. Government may hold an e-ID card to facilitate the collection of the population with ease. While people who have made ID cards may only hold one card corresponding to the location. For those who do not have id card then that person is obliged to make id card regional/usual id card and then take care of e-id card. Because the e-ktp still running so not all areas require the creation of e-ktp/e-id card.

creation of e-ID card can be made ??at district or sub district where you live now, and you will receive a letter of invitation from the village / district before come to the village/district. The old ID cards are still used to ensure authenticity of data. In this e-KTP maybe only one address can be put there, so you can choose which one to be extended. If at the data in the village / district your address is still in Semarang then the data would be to put there, because when making this e-KTP they will ask you first about the data contained there.

this transition to e-KTP is suck... i have friend that have an expired ID about two months ago and he try to update them, but now because e-KTP haven't started in Bandung so they delay the update... now my friend don't have an ID card for over two months... This December my ID is also expired and i hate that i have to wait for unknown times before i can get a new ID...

It's my first payment, it's only $104... not that much.... i have the account for over 5 years but i only use it on my blog. My last update on my blog is probably 4 years ago and after that i never update them again. Several months after blogging i got busy and i don't have time to update them but now i think i will start blogging again.

E-ID in Indonesia is made to reduce citizen using multiple ID. But unfortunately, this kind of ID only can be made for several region right now.
In the past, making ID in Indonesia is very easy. In fact, I have 3 ID in the past with the same name: one in West Borneo (Kalimantan Barat), one in Central Borneo (Kalimantan Tengah) and one in East Java (Jawa Timur). I made 3 ID because in the past I live in each region more than one year (mostly for study and job reason) and I keep holding it even I'm not in particular region just in case if someone looking for me for a job. I didn't do it anymore because I have permanent job in current place (East Java).
ID for for free??
Everyone want it or love it but I think that not gonna happen. That because this thing costly and government also need income.

@Olleenz: do not worry because in early 2012 aimed at the creation of e-ID card free of charge to all regions in Indonesia because it is held by SUCOFINDO. e-ID card is only one person is entitled to one id, but you are still permitted to retain the old ID cards.
@surfer222: that true, as their promise to the community. Funds taken from the state budget.

ID-Card should be free... that's why we pay for taxes... The reason why we have so many corruption is because we tolerate things like this. ID-card should be free because it's our right as citizen. In fact, all government registrations and administration papers should be free... we already paid for their service through our taxes.
