foreign songs , “tagalized”

Last Saturday, one of the topics of Jessica Soho on her Tv show , was foreign songs that were given the Tagalog versions. One such example was the “Teach Me How to Doggie” which was retitled as “Turuan Mo ako Nyan”. Hearing the lyrics , one couldn’t help but smile and dance it too. At least, what’s good about those kind of Tagalized songs are that they are made funny. 
But other than that, I find it corny when foreign R & B or mellow songs are translated into Tagalog. Maybe it’s because in my mind, I know that there’s no originality. 
However, for those original Pilipino music, I love them!

I remember when I was in HS we were asked to translate an English song into Tagalog and sing it to the whole class. I was so shy to sing it in front of the class. Me and my classmate went to her outside the faculty room and sing it only to her
I find the ones translated by Michael V so entertaining, even when he is not totally translating it into right words. Mellow songs tend to so corny sometimes. But some still loves it.

Yes, Michael V's songs are also entertaining. And i like Andrew E's raps also. The background music are what makes it so lively. But sometimes, the lyrics are offensive. @SIMPLYD (90722)

Indeed, even she is not sure if it is the correct translation, so that explains why you too are persistent with your teacher to see you both sing to her only.
But wouldn't it be wonderful if you both make the whole class roar with laughter with your translations.

Yeah I have to agree some words are offensive.
Yeah we're so shy to be laughed at. But I made the translation really serious. I was so laughing with my classmate when she translate All 4 One's song 'I can love you like that'. Not sure if you still remember the song but the first line is... 'They made you Cinderella...' and she sang seriously and translated it literally... 'Ginawa kang Cinderella' Oh my! Our stomach are all in pain laughing at her while she's singing it seriously
So because of that, I decided to tell I haven't made one. And the next day we went to the faculty room and harassed our teacher to agree with singing to her alone and not inside the class.

I haven't heard of of the tagalized version yet but I really find it annoying when my eldest keep repeating the line "teach me how to doggie" over and over again . I think the tagalog version would sound corny but then we have to accept the fact that the filipino's taste in music varies and there's a particular market who appreciate those kind of songs.

And we cannot deny the fact that since the English version is so popular ybong , the Tagalog version will also get the raves, since it has the tune of the original song and the lyrics are funny.

Me, i haven't tried dancing it yet. I just watch. But i guess, i have to practice, lest it will be danced on our Christmas Party.

I haven't heard the song, "Turuan Mo Ako Nyan", yet. But I'm excited to hear it soon. I agree on what you said about some being corny. I find the "tagalized" ballad songs to steer the "corny" side most of the time. But the fast and "danceable" tunes always come out nicely when "tagalized".

Actually, when the tune of a Tagalized song is fast and danceable, people gets to like it. It's the tune that makes them want it, not the lyrics.

yes its good but i think the other people will not tolerate and not buying the tagalize song, because what is the genre of that? it will not count in the opm list of songs, but all the local radio stations are playing the song turuan mo ako nyan, in my personal words i dont like that converting or tagalizing other foreign songs, come on that is so disappointing to others, i applaud rapper here in the philippines writing original lyrics but tagalizing a song i don't think so. this is my personal thoughs in your topic, hope im not offend anybody here. thank you .

Yeah, i understand your side on that. Me, as long as the tune is danceable and the lyrics are not offensive, i am for it.
