Hi guys, I am currently looking for a job, and one of my prospects right now is the call center industry. I would like to apply for a technical support rep position. ACtually, I tried applying last month, but i think they rejected me because I am currently enrolled at school though I only got a class every Monday and Friday. Before that incident, there's this agency who have done a briefing for the applicants to pass the interview and be hired. They told us that if we are studying and that we really want to get a job, then we should not disclose such information about ourselves. And rest assured that such strategy would be effective because the companies can't do a background check during interviews. See it like a tips on how to trick the interviewer, pass everything and be hired. So, they told us that we can disclose that fact only after the contract signing and that our employers can't do anything about it anymore. I actually have a friend who was studying before and tried to get such job while currently enrolled and school. And she herself told me the same thing. But still, I can't help worrying about me being in trouble if I would lie. I'm still completing my engineering degree and currently on my third year now. It just happened that I have a lot of free time this semester and that I just don't want to stay idle for the rest of the months. At least I can use the time to get a job and earn some money, but it's hard to find a part time job that is in my field or close to it as everyone needs someone for a full time position. Any advices that can help me???

Well, there is actually no harm to it. either you are a student or not, you will still be able to work for the company right? Not to say that you lie, but you fully utilize your time to do something for yourself and the company. of course, you have to consider the working hours if they will crash with your lectures time on Monday and Friday. You wouldn't want your job to affect your study right?

Yes, that's the thing there. I am very much sure that with a more convenient schedule(which is preferably dayshift or midshift) there will be no problem with my time management at school and for work. I just need to get the chance. And as my dad said, he would allow me to work as long as I can promise that my studies won't be affected. So rest assured that I will do my best with both things. I just hope that I will be given the chance though.

Hi emilytd18, I think it is still better to be honest with the company you are applying for. Just tell them your intention of finding a part-time job and that you are still studying in college. Tell them you need money to support your studies. Abide by the company's policy. Telling a lie and being caught in the end will only bring consequence which might be hard to accept.

Hi prosperity1027, Yeah, I do think you are right. And that's also the reason why I am hesitating. Plus, I also hate telling lies and being unsure of its outcome. That just sucks you know. Just want to find a part time job for now so that I will still be productive during the months that I will be free. Now, I can see why it is really hard to land a good one. lol ;-)
