New Idea for getting Coupons...just thought of it and it works!

This just came to me as I was looking at the store ads. There is only one store (stater brothers) in my area so that is the only one I use...and they don't double coupons EVER!!! And it is hard to find good coupons without buying them. But these shows say the people sit for 40 a week on line looking for coupons. Doesn't say how sucessful they are, and I couldn't figure how they spent that much time...doing what? It was mentioned that a way to find coupons for things you buy is to find what is in your cabinet and contact them. Well...that seemed to me to be kind of cumbersome..more work that necessary etc. But looking at the store ad, I started circling things that I wanted to buy...and then from there I write it all on a list for taking to the store. But at that moment, it occured to me....now that I have my list of things on sale...use that list to go online and to that specific manufacture's web site and find if they have any online coupons to print and then have them to use on this weeks sale. So I did and I got ALOT of coupons that way..one was dollar off on Las Palmas enchillada sause! And it let me print 3 and that is my favorite sauce and it is on sale this week! So I just put in the manufacture name in my search box (for which I get paid for for using!) and then look down and find the specific manufacture web site (skip the coupon sites..I have a few I monitor and they all have the same ones anyway and you can only print 2-3 PER COUPON not per site) Go to the manufactures web site, and look for "coupons" or "promotions" and it'll either give you the ones they currently have or tell you that they don't put them on their site, but a coupon site or newspaper. EIther way...you either get a coupon or know that product's site doesn't do it, so forget it and just know the coupon sites are the only ones to get that product. It worked well for me...I got more that way than I have with the coupon sites! There are tons there, but few for things I use!Plus..if they don't have coupons now (and it says "not available now" insinuating that they post them from time to time) they also have a mailing list you can join. I created an email address for just my coupons and use that one and join their site and when they have new coupons etc...I know I'll get an email about it! ANother way to let them do the work for me! Give it a try and see how it works for you , then share with us!

Hello coffeebreak, That all sounds wonderful but sure a lot of work. I know because I was doing the same thing as you, going to the manufactures site. And I used to find some good ones, like cambells soup. I would find a coupon for $3.00 off of a case of cream of mushroom soup and then shop when the store had them on for $4.99 a case so it would only cost me $1.99. But now I am finding that the stores that have the sales on, like the soup for $4.99 a case, now don't honor coupons on sale prices. So the $3.00 off coupon is only good for when the soup is on regular price and that is usually $9.99 a case so it works out to $6.99 a case which isn't a savings if I stock up when they are on sale for $4.99. Then same thing happened to me with a $5.00 off coupon for finish dishwasher detergent. I also found that a lot of the manufacture sites don't offer coupons very often anymore. They want your address and they mail you the coupon or a small sample size or both. That is how I got the $5.00 off coupon for the finish dishwasher detergent and now I have to put up with all kinds of junk mail because I gave out my mailing address. Well, good luck to you my friend, I am glad it is working for you. Cheers and TTYL my friend , Chris

Good and bad. I had to "join" their site and get on a mailing list. I did this for about 50 companies...and got about 5 coupons in the mail...nothing to speak about...$1 off on Bar S... and 30 cents on one item of a few others, but that was it! Some of the sites said that they don't send out coupons...but to get them from newspapers and online. I finally got tired of hearing that and started to write back...and said..."I never see yours in either of those venues and it just doesn't seem right that you don't offer coupons from your site to those that ask as I am trying to buy your product, not someone elses and I would think that you'd want to get me to buy yours. But if you don't want to offer coupons, I can always buy another brand that is less expensive that yours and it will probably be just as good and you loose". Figure what do I have to loose? they aren't sending me any anyway...might as well give them something to think about! But I did it once..am on their mailing list if they do send out (those that didn't say they don't send). Will not hold my breath waiting for any! It just grips me to no end that those extreme coupon shows never tell where they get the high value coupons to allow the shopper to get things free. Bad enough it only works if the store you go to doubles ALL coupons ALL the time... Not a store in my area doest hat at all! But where dot hey get them for the high value and how do they get so many to buy cases and cases at one time!

I don't know of a single store in my city that doubles coupons either. I have found a store called No Frills that sells knock offs and overstock from Real Canadian Super Store so their prices are even better. The problem with No Frills is they are only in small cities or large towns so I have to drive 1/2 an hour each way. I usually go when I am in that town which is once a week anyways and I save a lot of money.

That is a great idea. I am definitely going to give it a try.

Buying what's on sale is the main point of couponing! And you can go nuts waiting for a "better" sale. I hope it works. It has this week and we only shop twice a month...well one big trip and then pick up milk etc throughout the month. But it seems like it is going to work. At least I got what I could this trip! Knowing that there is no way I can get those high value coupons and that my store doesn't double...the 2 main forms of "cashing in" on couponing, are never going to happen for me, I'll do what I can and be happy with the $20 or so I save each trip and just keep my eyes open! I don't want a 4-lifes supply of deodarant anyway!

They mail them to you? I would have thought they would have them on the website so you could print them off.

No...they mailed them to me! Precious cheese is on sale at my store this week so I went to their web site and there was a spot to request coupons...so I did and I got 2. Some are on the site to print, but others..I guess they choose to mail them. I don't care...just as long as I get them! Haven't seen a dollar off in a long time!
