PS3 shutting down problems

Anyone have any idea how to fix? And If i put this in the wrong interest, I'm sorry, I couldn't find a PS3 one (PS2 and PSP exists, but not PS3?) and video games is the closest I have for this. While playing a game, after about 5 minutes my system will turn off. I have to press the power button again to get it to turn back off. Sometimes it closes after 10-20 min, but usually 5. Some people say that the PS3 is overheating, but I put my PS3 on the floor in front of the TV. How much space should the PS3 have? Other people say that the PS3 is old and you should get it switched in, but I bought my PS3 YESTERDAY. Its brand-new, not used, yet still crashes on me when I play games. Any help? Thanks!

This response might come a bit late but overheating might be caused by dirt inside your console. You should open it, if not in warranty, and clean it from dust. It uses to cause my PS3 system to overheat but after cleaning it it has been ok. Wish you all the best :)

Since it is under warranty, you should send it to Sony and they will fix it for you.
