Dear Mylotters, it's the time again of every year. The long awaited New Year's Eve. Can't believe another had passed just like that. New Year's Eve had always been celebrated merrily in my country especially the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. They have got fireworks, shows, foods and many more which is very inviting indeed. However I won't be able to go there this year because I will be having final exams from 1st till 11th of January. So what is in your mind? Have you anything planned for that day? How do you usually celebrate it?

hi squallming, We always celebrate New Year with our family. We prepared 12 to 13 kinds of round fruits that symbolize the 12 months of the year. We also have bibingka on our tables as it symbolizes close family ties. We have shrimps because it jumps high, it means that it is good in our life. We do not have chicken and we avoid to cook foods that has chicken because there is a saying that it will lead to poor life with relation to how chicken looks for food. We also have cottons that symbolized prosperity. It has a light weight and for my mom once you roll it inside your house at 12am, the entrance of luck and money will be easy to you. We make noise a lot during New Year's Eve to drive away evil spirits. We turn on all of our appliances so that for the whole year, it will be okay. We jump high because of the believe that it will increase our height. We also wear polka dot dress and always have money on our pockets. That is how we celebrate New Year.

Today Christmas Eve, and I am enjoying a big meal with my best friends now. We'll get to the fireworks then. And I am also a students, I'll have the final exam at Jan,8th. It doesn't matter. I don't think there's a relationship between enjoying Christmas Eve and taking final exam. So just enjoy yourself!

New years is often a time for fireworks here in the country. Our animals will react with fear so that is how we spend our time, reasuring our pets and maybe if we have time a sweet kiss for 2012
