Do you give your dogs treats?

It is 8 o'clock that is when we give our dogs peanut butter cookies and believe me when it is 8 o'clock my dogs know it is time. You should see my dogs when we ask them if it is 8 o'clock they are wiggling and dancing around acting silly. So do you give your pets special treats? Do they let you know when it is time to get those treats?

Oh Lord, our dogs are so food motivated!! They LOOOVE their treats! I only give them healthy stuff, though, usually chicken or duck jerky, a little natural peanut butter, a little plain yogurt, once in a while a piece of bacon or cheese. (A lot of commercial dog treats are actually made of unhealthy ingredients...) I give them treats here and there throughout the day (I'm home w/them) so they don't know about a specific time, but when it comes to mealtime, their stomachs have it timed, they start whining for dinner at the same time every evening, right around 5 o'clock. If it goes much beyond that, it gets loud up in here (they are hound mix). Last nite I was eating an apple and one of my babies seemed to like the smell so I gave him a little piece. He licked it, chewed it, dropped it out of his mouth and eventually ate it and decided he liked it! The other dog sniffed at it once and gave me that look, "um, no thanks." Lol.

Hi MaggieB (10) and welcome to my lot. I know our dogs have to see everything we are eating and like yours one will take a bite and the other will turn his nose up to it. We only give our dogs healthy treats that my husband makes we want to keep them healthy. I love watching them when it comes to treat time. We give them treats on scheduled times.

We rarely get the dog any treats, he'd eat the whole box in one sitting if he had his way or frankly anything he can get his paws on. I do get some for the cats, but that's mainly for one who has hairball issues and or if they catch a mouse.

I understand what you mean about eating a box in one sitting. We have a limit for the treats early in the morning we give them two dog biscuits and two peanut butter cookies that is just how we do their treats at any time we give them treats. After all it is something we have to keep control over.

Rarely and only if I am training them. Not only is it expensive to give them treats so much, it really isn't good for them. Then again I can make my own peanut butter doggie treats, I do give them peanut butter in their kongs and they love it..

We don't give them treats all the time they have to deserve it. We make their treats so we know what they are getting is healthy for them. They love peanut butter cookies so we make them healthy for them.

Yes, we can't even get away with pulling out the cutting-board. Our babies run to the kitchen and start dancing and whining. Our babies will eat just about anything. I found that out from my husband. He's always feeding them junk. I'm just as guilty though. When we go to Taco Time, we always get them a small bag of tator tots. Shame on us but they get so excited when we walk in the door with our to go bags. I think they smell the tots, because they get so excited when we start eating. Happy little babies. Best Wishes!

Oh well we are all guilty of giving our babies things that are not good for them. But they are our babies and we have to show them they are special. Best wishes to you too my friend!

My dogs are just like this. They get a little snack around 5:30 when my mom gets up for work and then around 9:30 or 10 in the morning my dad gives them another snack. They have dinner at 4 and this schedule is programmed into their brains. Whenever it gets close to their eating times, they get all excited and start going nuts every time someone moves in the house. If they don't get their food, they'll start whining until we realize what time it is. Lol it's so funny how they know stuff like that.

I get so tickled at my dogs because of the way they know somehow that it is time for their treats. If we say it is 8 o'clock they come running wagging their tails. If my husband is sitting down in his recliner one of our dogs will jump up on his lap and start kissing my husband and wagging his tail like a little dance. It is so cute to see.

We give them special treats but not like the same treats and there is no time. Usually when I opened chips they'd be happily coming and watching me as I eat my snacks. I'll be busy eating while on the internet. And one of my dog will put his face on my lap just to get my attention - maybe to inform me that he's there and waiting for me to drop some chips for him
