Tagalized (translated to tagalog) songs

I heard a lot of songs that are originally sung in English by popular artists but are translated (not the lyrics but just the melody) to Tagalog by some unknown artists. I find it corny and annoying because it seems like they are too lazy to think of their own music. And also since it was already popularized by other artists, I think it is plagiarizing their work, unless of course they gain permission from the original singer (which I doubt). The song that I heard was "like a rose" by A1 but there are also a lot of songs that were plagiarized before that.

Oh well... O in OPM has not been practiced anymore They should think about originality and creativity. It's what's lacking in our music industry now.

I agree. That's why I missed the golden days of Filipino Music when singers in the caliber of Jose Marie Chan (although he sings mostly english songs, it is still consider OPM) sings Filipino songs wonderfully. There are still good Filipino singers today but mostly, just random dude.

I never heard of that as of yet but just reading a few lyrics makes me think that it was just another funny rendition of an already funny song.

Yeah, it's so common here in our country. I also think it's corny and annoying, these singers do not have their originality. Although I'm sure they get the permission of the producer before they can use the melody. The only Tagalized song that I appreciate because I think it's somewhat amusing and I really love the original is Superwoman by Karyn White/Hindi ako si Darna by Janine Desiderio.

Actually I listen to some of the tagalized versions of English songs. I like listening to them especially when I like the beat. But somehow I realized that it is not good because it is not original. It would be better if it is out of their creativity I would appreciate more the song.

Hey there stuckonu, Im a big fan of our local music scene and this songs are crappy, they tend to you know make fun of internationally made songs, and in the process they are the ones who are made fun of, sure it's funny to hear it twice or 3 times but heard everyday, that sucks and most of the time the buses and jeepney's you take everyday are the one's playing it. If only you can tell the driver to listen to more decent local music eh, anyway good discussion L, I mean stuckonu.

A lot of songs in English has been plagiarized actually. Some companies and even the singer has been sued for it. Yeah, it's sad that some artists would just simply adapt the tune and just put some Tagalog lyrics and that's it, they have it played over the radio. Sad, but it's what is being done most of the time.

Indeed! Those songs is getting into my nerves :-( . Aside from A1, the songs of black eyed peas was tagalized, and make fun and the singer becomes popular for doing that. So sad to say, but it sells like hotcake in the market.

I really don't like to listen to English songs that are Tagalized. I do not patronize them. Unfortunately there are a lot who are fond of listening to this kind of songs. I'm also composing songs and I know how it feels when your original compositions are being plagiarized.
