I was at home on my bed and i was thinking about all i have accomplished in life. Then i started to think about my parents and also what they have accomplished. This got me to start comparing my life to theirs and all i could think of is that i might have had a better headstart than them which means i could achieve more than they have. So now im posing this question to other mylotters: Are you doing better than you parents in the following areas... Relationship with significant other? Job/money? State of mind/well being? Relationship with family? Your answer will be greatly appreciated.

My father earns more money than I do. He is very hardworking and very ambitious, and he has had a lot of success. The decisions that he has made about work and career are different from the decisions that I have made. He only has experience from one type of job, but he is very, very good at that job. I have experience from many different kinds of jobs and I have tried a lot of different things. I am not extremely good at one thing, but I have many different kinds of experience. My father knows a lot about one thing, I know a bit about a lot of things, I think that is the biggest different between our jobs/careers. My parents have a good relationship, and my husband and I have a good relationship. My parents have a good relationship to the rest of the family, and I have a good relationship to the rest of the family. There is not a big difference between us when I look at the type of relationships that we have.

So we could say you all accomplished a lot through different means which means there are enough roads to accomplish success.

I don't think I've even reached what my parents had accomplished in life. I guess it boils down to discipline or the lack of it. I mean, I started off bad. I enjoyed life too much during those times where I should have been preparing for my future. Financially and career-wise, that is. But I think I've done real well regarding family matters. My son's growing up to be a fine lad and my family's in really good shape :)

Well. Better late than never and its not how far but how well. So dont worry just keep moving in the right direction and in the end you just might see you have accomplished as much as them. And guess what, you are almost there. They gave birth to you and now you have your own son. Thats a great accomplishment right?

I believe that each person is an individual and it is difficult to see if I am better than my parents. Sadly I have to say my dad is no longer alive. My mom and is alive and well I am happy to say. Before she retired she was a librarian and I am a primary school teacher. For both of these jobs a degree is necessary. I would say they are like one another. I got married at age twenty-two years old and then six years later got divorced. My mom got married and her marriage lasted around twenty-four years before she and my dad got divorced. My mom gets an old age pension. I get more money than her but I spend lots of it. We both get on well with family members.

Hi. Im sorry about your dad. I still have both of my parents and right now i cant imagine life without any of them. I think you and your mom are very alike with what you wrote here. Thats a very nice thing. Make sure you keep loving her and keep your relationship real because mothers are the aest.

I must say that the moment in which they are more subject to think about "how I act," is the night, before falling asleep. No doubt the first thing that comes to mind is to see what I can achieve in the near future. Well, you can understand that a person like me still unemployed at the age of almost 37 years .. Well said all! So mostly I can think of how I can plan and how it can find a job. Often I also think family relationships with parents and brother who unfortunately are not very good lately.

You might want to work on your family relationship. You know they are one part of ones life that is very important and should not be neglected. They will be one great part of ones achievement.

Well, we are ahead in terms of technology with respect to our parents. Also there is lot more competition in studies now a days that people are more educated than their parents. Newer generation than us are more advanced than us. If I got my PC at 16 then newer generation are getting it at 10. World is changing so fast that if we stop working for even 1 day we get left behind. Also children now a days are more mature and aware compared to us when we were of their age.
