Someone hit Judah, now I can't find him!

I was on my front porch smoking, and Judah and another female cat were beginning a mating ritual. There is a street light, easy to see them especially since the female is black and white. Judah is an orange tabby, more tan and a lighter tan mixed in. A car came down the street, and I thought the cats would disperse. They didn't and it happened so fast I could not do a thing. The car kept going, not even bothering to slow down. Judah was hit, and instead of running to the other side where he would be safe, he came towards my house, going in front of the car again. I screamed and the car kept going, Judah still running. I went out to find him, he was under my car. He rolled to me, crying. I called someone who takes care of cats, and Judah rolled under the car to keep out of the rain I guess. I called for him again, petted him and went to get a box. He wanted me to pet him, he didn't want me to leave. The lady could not do anything, but told me to put him in a box and drop him at a clinic. I knew I should have stayed with him, but I didn't, hopeful that maybe he would overcome his injuries, as other pets who have been hit by cars have. I called and whistled, heard 2 painful yowls and cannot find him. He may be under the car, buried himself under the leaves. I will have to wait until the daylight and have someone help me push the car so I can see if he indeed is there. I have been feeding Judah since the spring. He and his litter mates for some reason decided to terrorize my indoor cats and stick around, so I began feeding them, the only thing I could do. I tried so hard to get someone to adopt them, but no one would. I did manage to get Gracie to a shelter, and she was so very sick I was so afraid she was going to die. She would have, bleeding when she went to the bathroom and couldn't hold any food down. I never knew what happened to Jackie and Billy. Judah stuck around, and would come when I whistled for him. He would 'help' me with my gardening. lol. Faithfully waiting for his food every morning. This morning, it was so cute, there is another addition lately to the strays, and he, Judah and Fluffy were inside a makeshift house I put out for them, an old microwave cart with a pet bed wrapped in the stuff for bedbugs for your mattress (it's waterproof, plus if they lay on it it will reflect some of the body heat and help to keep them warm) plus I wrapped a cloth waterproof shower curtain around it so they wouldn't be sleeping on plastic. They all came out of it this morning, it scared me! lol. I was happy to see Judah was using it to keep out of the rain. Now, he may be dead..........it happened so fast. Poor kitten! He isn't even a year old yet I don't think. I am broken hearted.

I am so very sorry to hear about your poor stray kitty. I hope that he does come back good as new. It could be that he is just trying to stay hidden so that he can heal. I can't believe the car didn't even stop. I hate the fact that some people can be so cruel. I too feed the strays in my area, I just can't sit there and watch them suffer, it's just not something I would do. I have to bring up the chance that he might not have made it, but please take heart in knowing that you cared for him when no one else would and cats are very inteligent, he will always remember the kindess you showed him and his friends. I wish you all the luck and hope you will keep us updated.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I am just flabbergasted the car would not even slow down, let alone stop. People can be so cruel. Lord, have mercy.
