which element determines people's life height

today i read a theory called cask theory.That is,there are some boards consisting of cask.Of the boards,there is a lower one.So the height of the cask is the height of the board.What about people's life?To a person,he has strong points and weak ponits.his strong points advance his career while his weak ones block him.My question is: which is the determining element to the height of people's life ,people's strong points or weak points?

For me, I think its the way how a person manage to get-up despite of a terrible downfall. There we can measure the person's life height. :) Just an opinion though.
