why are some soap not as strong as others?

I'm talking about hand soap, and it doesn't have anything to do with the price of the soap. Why is it that when you wash your hands you have to wash them more then once to get them "clean"? say for example:then other night I was cooking with garlic, my hands smelled of it so I washed them, they still smelled of garlic so I had to wash them a couple more times. I know this because I like to smell my hands after I wash them because I love the smell of scented soap (I know weird) haha but they still smelled of garlic blah :(

I think it has nothing to do with the strength of the soap, nut with the strength of the smell of the garlic on your hands. The smell of the garlic stays for several hours despite several times of washing hands. It's a good idea that you squeeze a bit of lemon juice on your hands after washing them, to get rid of the garlic smell. Use the lemon juice like after-wash lotion.

I think it has to with the ingredients used when making that soap. Some of the soaps seems very hard even to lathe making it hard to use it.
