Mood may have an effect on the way we taste food but that depends entirely on the individual and not as a general rule. There are people who don't like the taste of the food when they are moody, could be psychological because when a person is moody, changes occur in out major senses including the sense of taste. Chemical reactions occurs therefore making a sweet food into somewhat bland or less sweeter when we are in the mood. While there are people too that when they are moody, it doesn't matter and no changes occur in the taste of the food. For my own experience and accounts, when I'm having mood swings, yes sometimes your favorite food doesn't taste the same when your in good mood. However, this does not occur as always. So maybe it does affect the food taste somehow.

I never stopped myself on those things, but I do know that either chocolate or meat will still taste the same to me so, it can be in your imagination sorry.

I never thought about it that way. I know what I want to eat is based on what my mood or the weather is. You know like PMS'n you crave chocolate and sweets. When it's warm out we eat alot of veggies and salads of course they are more available and more reasonable cost that time of year as well.

Definitely. I know that when I'm sad, the food doesn't taste the same way. I can eat the more delicious funghi pasta (for example, it's one of my favorite dishes..) and it's not going to taste the same way as it usually does. Also, when I'm happy, even salad taste very good!

I think sometimes the taste of my food is affected by mood. If I'm depressed than food taste awful. I can hardly eat when I'm depressed but if I'm bored or stressed I eat a lot but I can't taste the food at all. I think that I can get the true taste of food when I eat when I'm at ease/in a normal mood or happy because then I can really focus on the food's taste and not on how I'm feeling.

I am not sure it changes with the moods but I feel sure it changes as we get older, nothing tastes the same as when we were kids, maybe our taste buds are at a peak when we are kids but as you get older you taste somethings but they are never as good..

Dear friend, just to answer your question, in my case I say NO. In fact, what I eat has no effect on my mood. However, the effect I'm talking about myself. Maybe other person functions in a different way?
