using social networking by children become a big problem specially for teenagers. unknowingly they make friends to strangers, discuss personal things with them and then finally attract towards each other. resulting friendship converted into love relationship that goes several times in bad situation. some people do all this intentionally for chilling. today children are wasting their most of the time with social networking sites. how to control them is a big headache for their parents.

Lots of young people today are quite obsessed with social networking like facebook, I'm in my late teens but I have never touched facebook. I was never a fan of social networking, I never found it interesting to update my status and tell the whole world how I'm feeling. Most of my friends have facebook and urge me to get one but I rather spend my time on Mylot and earn something than waste my time on facebook. Some predators lurk on social networks, preying on easy kids who are not familiar with stranger danger online. Some people have also abused facebook, posting revealing images and gossiping about others.

Social networking sites like facebook could be really addicting. Especially the young ones. I was addicted to it before, i spent a lot of time there wasting my time and energy. I've been doing nothing there, just browsing, looking for something that i wasn't sure what it was, just fooling around. LOL. But, now, i rarely open my accounts, I think i have nothing to gain there. I just joined facebook to get intouch with my friends and relatives, and gets updated from my interests nothing more. I don't add some people whom i really don't know. You are right, social networking can lead to disasters. Just like what you said, making friends to strangers, or probably killers or something. This kids don't know what they're dealing with. I feel sorry for them.

There was actually several cases here in our country where teenagers get raped and killed because of meeting someone in facebook. Social networking is okay as long as its moderated and controlled.

this is the risk of social networking. however, there are many benefits and advantages of social networking for children. as parents, we should not dwell and focus only on the risk and bad side of social networking. although this is real threats and risk, it does not stop us from overcoming and challenging it. the best that social networking gives to children is interconnectivity to their playmates, cousins abroad, families abroad, and their teachers.

Yes, those are the disadvantages of social networking sites. I am also a victim of the time wasting in social networking sites. Before, I just idle around Facebook doing nothing at all. I always end up browsing non sense things in the internet. Good thing I become more productive online using myLot. I remember before how my mother really disciplines us in using the internet. She always had a bad temper whenever she sees us on the internet for the whole day just sitting and doing nothing in the computer. The problem with social networking sites is that they consume lots of time without developing some skills of importance for the teens nowadays. To control their social networking sites usage, I suggest to divert their attention to other hobbies or sports activities. Having such activities and endeavors will surely move them away from the computer.

you know what you can not control them.. If you're too strict with them, all they will do is hide things.. Just teach them how to be careful while being a friend with them.. Thats your best shot.. And sometimes there will be bad situations but dont panic help them handle it!! You learn by your own mistakes and even though if you are trying to save them you can not for forever!!
