I dislike when "Newbies" and "Regulars" at Karaoke Establishments, expect, Karaoke Singers to (ALWAYS) sound similar to...AMERICAN IDOL TOP 24.
It's NOT American Idol and (most of) these same exact people complaining about BAD SINGERS would NEVER go up and sing at all, yet they want to criticize people who...Just Want To Enjoy Life.
The Karaoke DJ (whom is great), I knew of, in a small town, tried to make Top 25 during a Singing Contest and SHE didn't make the cut.

I used to Love to sing Karaoke, and have done a couple of contests in the past. I have not been in a long time but have thought about it, as many times I do miss it. I have had a lot of people compliment me even when I sing.
Some of my favorites to sing are:
1) Where Do Broken Hearts Go? - by Whitney Houston
2) Daddy's Hands - by Holly Dunn
3) I Think We're Alone Now
I have been recorded on the first 2 and did not sound too bad.

We don’t usually have Karaoke Contest over our place, over we do have Karaoke Houses but they only cater Karaoke rooms and are intended for special occasions like family gatherings, so karaoke is quite private.
However, when I’m at such places, I don’t normally mind singing with proper modulation or rather mimic a professional singer. I just came to the venue to have fun and just to blend in with the people.
I normally pick songs that are upbeat so that people will dance on the tune.

I have been and sang at alot of Karaokes and I must admit that I am a TERRIBLE singer. I believe that Karaoke is not only for the talented but it is for fun. So I would go up on the stage and sing the dogs away and enjoy myslef lol. One song I love to sing is I am like a bird by Nelly.

I have only been to a karaoke place one time and I loved it. It was just a small bar type of place and no one judged anyone or anything like that. They were really nice and people told me we were really good. =)
I sang songs from Mariah Carey, Shania Twain and Patty Smyth. It was fun and I want to go back soon...

Hello, capricorn. I am an awsome singer and do not even need to go into a bar... Oh wait, I just woke up. JK. So, my faves, are Lonestar, No News. George Strait, any song, and COLDPLAY Speed of Sound. Yup, I also hate it when people heckle those brave souls who at least try. Have a great day. :) :)
