Do you know what the stars are when you look into the sky?

I used to look up at the sky and only knew Orion's belt and when it was not there, then it would be Scorpio. Then I found out that a friend of mine was similar to me. We were always amazed at stars when we looked up into the sky. Plentiful and shimmering without care and whilst we look at them, the stars are actually going through their normal routine like our planets do. Also, we never know if the stars we are seeing are still alive since their light takes years to travel to us, some decades and even centuries. The light we are seeing from stars are years old when they hit us. So then, this friend of mine has motivated me to study more about the stars and the constellations they form as she usually consults me regarding her questions about this celestial bodies. So far, I can distinguish Orion and the stars that make up its feet and shoulders. They are Rigel, Saiph, Bellatrix and Beletgeuse. I also know where Sirius, the brightest star visible to use(it is not Polaris), is. That friend of mine gave me a link to a star map. I plan on familiarizing wih the constellations so I could relate with her and answer questions she throws at me regarding them. What about you? Do you know the stars and constellations when you look up at the night? How about experiences relating them? So far, I have seen three shooting stars and they last for less then a second. I can hardly savour the moment but always do and got excited at all three times. Also, there was a lunar eclipse that occurred last year during the month of December. I enjoyed watching it and keeping track of its eclipse online.
